"Oklahoma Independent Radio"

"From the opening bars of the catchy 'Waiting' through to the hauntingly beautiful 'Silent Words', I was genuinely hooked on the depth of Jamie's talent not only as a singer but as an accomplished songwriter. But, what really surprised me, was there wasn't one track that left me disappointed. With brilliantly written, passionate lyrics and a sophisticated sound, Jamie is blessed with a ton of talent and is well on her way to making a lasting impact on the music scene and a long and successful career.

Soulful & passionate. 5 stars."

JAMIE COON - WAITING
http://www.musicfreedom.com/jamiecoon

With a touch of Natalie Merchant vibe, a dab of Norah Jones jazz, and a gentle nod to the sexy cool of Sade, Jamie's luscious vocals reach out and caress your heart with quiet joy and longing.

Mesmerizing arrangment that lulls while it excites...calms you then kisses your ears with intensity of emotion. Truly a gem of a song.

Bio

The first time you hear singer Jamie Coon’s music, you immediately know that you’re listening to something different. Her voice is both soulful and angelic; her original tunes are decidedly pop, yet informed by the soul tradition. However, there are also other currents running deeper throughout her music: a Native American born in Okemah, Oklahoma, Jamie’s songs have a spiritual, wide open feel that flows naturally. The result is one of the freshest sounding singers to come along in awhile.

Growing up in Oklahoma, Jamie was exposed to music at an early age. Her parents were huge music fans and listened to everything from Ronnie Milsap and Elton John to Percy Sledge, Fats Domino and Aretha.

Because Jamie has so many influences, her songs incorporate a wide variety of instrumentation and styles. She seamlessly fuses stripped down acoustics, standard pop/rock instrumentation, electronic elements and drum loops, and more. Everything is held together so nicely because of her musical vision, passionate voice and solid soul underpinning.

Jamie has assembled a band of like-minded musicians, who have pushed her musically and given her songs added depth. They include acoustic guitarist Rafael Barajas who brings a Latin influence and acoustic/electric guitarist Eric Sampson. Rounding out the rhythm section is Tom Von Doom (former Cycle Sluts from Hell bassist – and interestingly one of the kids on Blood, Sweat and Tears’ first album cover), and drummer LJ Holifield. Jamie and the band released their first CD, Everything So Far, in late 2005 on indie label CSW Entertainment. Jamie and the band have been gigging constantly in support of the CD, with well-received shows at the Pig N Whistle, Rainbow Room, Improv, Cat Club, Talking Stick, Knitting Factory and the Lebowski Fest.

Recently, Jamie’s music has been enjoying an increasingly wide audience. Several of her songs appeared on the soundtrack of the films Gone, But Not Forgotten and Virtuality, and the band has three tracks featured in the film Long-Term Relationship. Her single "Breathe" (taken from Everything So Far) was featured in Deceit, starring Joe Pantoliano and Jon Abrahams. Her music was included on a recent episode of CBS' hit 'Ghost Whisperer'. She has signed an agreement with Riptide Music, a company placing music in major TV shows and film. And perhaps most rewardingly, she was a recent nominee for Best Female Artist in the First Annual Southern California Music Awards. As Paul Deppeler of IROK Radio said in his 5-star review of Everything So Far, “she is well on her way to making a lasting impact on the music scene and a long and successful career.”
