"Top Ten Bands of SB"

A powerful voice that brings an edge to her equally powerful lyrics about politics, women’s issues, love, existence, sex, and spirituality; think Alanis Morissette, Tori Amos and Fiona Apple’s dreadlocked lovechild.
– The Independent (Sept 27, 2007)

Acoustic alt-rocker blends girl power and introspective songwriting to create a sound that’s all her own.
--The Independent (Oct 25, 2007)

Green is as multi-faceted as her songs let on. In front of her backing band, she wails like a young Alanis at her most jaded. And playing solo, she is as pensive as her lyrics are thought-provoking, singing tunes that are empowering, reflective, and obviously coming from the heart.

--The Independent (Nov 1, 2007)

- Santa Barbara Independent

"Music Connection"

"an excercise in inventive artistry...riveting, incisive lyrics" - Dan Kimpel

"No Ho > L.A. Magazine"

“The new Jamie Green album, TRUCE contains 13 tracks that will tug at your heart while making you want to dance and/or hold someone close.” - G-Man

"BITE ME! 'zine"

“The well-crafted tunes that make up this meaningful release are warm and vibrant. Each song reflects the lovely chanteuse’s charming brand of contemporary pop that is all together folky, funky, melancholy, and soulful. Jamie is a woman who is not afraid to bare her soul, and she draws strength from every secret revealed in her confessional lyrics, which don’t just empower the artist but also empower the listener as well. All in all, Jamie Green’s Truce is a truly rewarding musical treat.”
- Nikki Neil

"Entertainment Today"

“Jamie Green… has put out a self-released album that slays a lot of the competition from the bigger names and labels…. People will compare her to Tori, Alanis and Melissa, but she more than stands on her own, forging a lightly funk-based style that relies on good old-fashioned handcrafted melodies and hooks to draw the listener in.” - Paul Anderson

"Los Angeles Independent"

“Jamie Green isn’t a big star- yet, but she will be. Count on it. Or just listen to her voice and her music. If you like Alanis Morissette and Sheryl Crow, you’ll love Jamie Green.”

- Tony Castro

"Music Connection"

"...A soulful singer who sells every word she sings." - Demo Critique

"Santa Monica Mirror"

In our shaky post 9/11 world, it has compassion, insight, and hope. John Ashcroft would hate it, which is one of many reasons I like Green’s second release.” - Tony Peyser

Bio

Recently voted Top Five Bands of Santa Barbara by the Independent, Jamie Green is an award-winning independent recording artist, having won L.A. Music Awards for her first two albums, and numerous honors from the John Lennon and Unisong International song contests. Her lyrics have been described by Music Connection Magazine as “riveting and incisive,” with a soulful voice that “sells everything she sings.” She’s been compared to such artists as Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette, Tori Amos and Fiona Apple, but Jamie forges her own brand of contemporary pop that is funky, folky, thoughtful, moody and soulful.

Jamie's musical influences include nearly all pop, rock and soul from the 70's to the present, with contemporary influences including Peter Gabriel, the Indigo Girls, and Tori Amos. She uses organic and sometimes retro instrumentation, loops and light electronica to present her well-crafted songs. With her passionate music and confessional lyrics, Jamie shows you the full range of human emotion, leaving your heart moved, and your body moving. She tells it like it is, from the perspective of a woman who is both strong and vulnerable, both confident and neurotic--a woman who is still trying to figure this whole life thing out.

Though Jamie graduated from Stanford with a B.A. in American Studies and an arrest record for political protest, she returned to her native Los Angeles to be a professional dancer and singer. Along the way her path veered to a series of manufactured girl groups. "What was I thinking? It just wasn't me!" Deliverance came in the form of the funk when she joined The Electric Booty Mob and played clubs across the suburbs of Los Angeles. It was during this period that she began penning her own songs, eventually going solo. Jamie continues to give what Entertainment Today calls a *high octane live performance,* whether acoustic or with her full band.

For the past four years, Jamie has received the ASCAPLU$ (American Society of Composers And Publishers) award which recognizes her as an active and promising young songwriter. Her songs have appeared in numerous network and cable TV Movies, and in several Billboard Top Ten Videos for Children. You may have heard her anti-war anthem, “What’s Happening Here?” on Pacifica Radio’s progressive news show, “Democracy Now.” Jamie is near completion on her third album.
