"A Sense for the Audience: Jamie Jarovi and the Diversity in Music"

For the consummate performer, knowing music is much more than playing notes and singing lyrics. It is about appreciating the individual interests of a broad audience, and knowing what attracts. With that understanding, once the final note fades, the audience should go away from a recording or live show feeling enthusiastic and uplifted, and ideally, catered to. A wide variety of individual listening tastes necessitate musicians with diversity. Jamie Jarovi is one such musician.

Jamie is a Toronto-based singer, songwriter who knows his music, and knows his audience. His debut self-titled cd, “Jamie Jarovi-Demo Songs”, features twelve songs, which exemplify the rich pageantry offered by mainstream music. Inside this dozen are pairs of songs representing each of the cornerstone genres: rock n’ roll, folk, new country, and ballads.

To hear these original songs by Jamie is to understand his wide-range of influences, including everything from Led Zeppelin to Jackson Brown, reflected in part by Jamie’s decision to write with both the guitar and keyboard as his main instruments. The songs were written with the ear of the true fan of good music in mind, while also boasting a strong commercial appeal. Together, these should help encourage an extensive reach.

To capture genuine diversity, Jamie collaborated with several musicians of differing musical backgrounds to play on his CD. As well, Jamie provides an interesting spin of incorporating a traditional Irish Harp and Boron on some songs. Drew Berstien, of Chantal Kreviazuk, plays bass on three tracks.

Jamie has stage presence. He seems wholly “at home” in front of a crowd, doing what he does best, with a guitar in his hands and a microphone at his face. Jamie will be the first to tell you that practice and rehearsals are what make the backbone of a good, live show. Either with an acoustic or electric guitar, Jamie has spirit, but does not let antics take the place of or overshadow good music. With a wide smile and easygoing manner, he establishes a rapport with the audience easily and early on, and has been known to offer lighthearted banter when the mood is right. The importance that Jamie places on ensuring that his audiences are entertained demonstrates Jamie’s professionalism, and dedication to the art of music.

Anticipation. Appreciation. Variety. Virtuosity. Sensibility. Sensitivity. Essence. Enthusiasm. These words best describe what music means to Jamie Jarovi.

Bio

Rock/Pop/Folk/Country are all on Jamie Jarovi's debut CD. Acoustic/electric guitars are blended with organ, piano to create a commercial mix of music.

Jamie has a current live following in the GTA of over 100 attendees per show. There is not one song on the CD that the listener would not get. The band uses no stage volume as all guitars go through Line 6 pods. The drummer is using a Roland electronic kit and this allows for volumes to never get out of hand and for the songs to sound CD quality.
