Wanted to sing...
Ask him, and Jamie Kuntz will say these words were written for his then-unborn son. But, they could easily be meant for anyone fortunate enough to listen.
Both a part-time project and full-time passion for the Walkerton, Ontario-born, now London, Ontario-based singer-songwriter, Jamie's new album "10 Acoustic Songs" is a collection of tracks he's been itching to share for the past five years. These are honest stories with feeling. An upbeat reflection of love and longing.
And no, "acoustic" does not just mean guitar, although there is plenty of that. Banjo, harmonica and a little egg shaker (along with banging his fist on a door to emulate the sound of a bass drum) fluidly melt with a powerful voice that carries a pleasant rasp.
Think Ryan Adams, Neil Young, Hayden and Wilco.
Balancing the role of husband and new father, work as a medical courier, and playing lead guitar and backup vocals for the (on hiatus) Two Step Monday, "10 Acoustic Songs" was assembled in Jamie's spare bedroom ("Kinda like Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska," he quips.) It was smoothly mixed by London-producer Frazer Azzoli.
