As contradictions go they don’t come much bigger than Jamie Lawson. Initially quiet and shy he becomes an emotional storm on stage with a guitar in his hands and a song to sing. He manages to create an intimacy that makes you feel like he is singing to you and you alone in a room full to the brim of people. With a voice like an angel with a broken wing he has an amazing ability to completely draw you into his own world and make you never want to leave.

Born and brought up in Plymouth, Devon, Jamie rifled his brother’s record collection and came out obsessed by The Jackson 5 and The Smiths- an odd combination perhaps but both have a passion and love of melody that Jamie has brought to his own songs. Later a love of Jeff Buckley, American Music Club’s Mark Eitzel, Red House Painters and Radiohead (all artists that Jamie has been compared to at one point or another), continued the tradition of passionate singing and intelligent, emotional and often very personal lyrics that Jamie has trademarked for himself.

After quitting a photography course in Plymouth, Jamie moved to London and recorded the first of three e.p’s “This Radiator’s Bleeding,” “The Kitchen Songs” and “The Small Wish.” It was whilst promoting “The Small Wish” in Dublin that Irelands biggest distributor RMG approached Jamie to put out a full-length album.“Last Night Stars” was released through his own label Allotment Recordings. Tours followed with Irish acts The Frames, Mundy, The 4 of Us and Damien Rice as well as shows with Tom Baxter and Iain Archer. Jamie has continued to play live in the UK, Ireland and Europe in gigs as varied as "lving room" shows to large outdoor events as special guest to Katie Melua and the legend Van Morrisson.

In late 2007 Jamie signed a publishing deal with Radiophonic/ Zomba Music and in Jan 08 he recorded his new album in London in one weekend. With a much more stripped back approach than his earlier recordings Jamie hopes this album will capture his songs at their best. It will feature a mix of full band songs and solo performances with acoustic guitar. The album will be released later his year.
