Bio
While most kids sat around and played Star Wars or Cowboys and Indians, Jamie Leslie would pretend to be James Taylor. "I knew a few songs, sure...but not enough, so, logically, I knew I'd have to write them." At the age of 8, Jamie's dad recorded his first song and they sent it to James Taylor. Subsequently, less than a year later, James Taylor held a songwriting competition for young people. While Jamie can't take credit for it, he wonders if his submission was a catalyst.
Jamie picked up guitar at age 14 and started to take songwriting seriously, recording first when he was 14 and later (when puberty finally settled in) when he was much older. His songs contain wit and humor, but can also be serious. "They just have to be honest and deal with honest feelings, and honest situations."
In New York as a student, Jamie is a regular player at the "NY Singer/Songwriter Sessions" for which he has played to crowds who have been overheard saying: "That will be a hard act to follow".
Look for Jamie to continue playing in 2008.
