Bio

What makes me special is that I do my shows alone. No band. Just me and my voice, and my guitar. You get to hear the real, raw performance of my original songs. I refuse to be a cover song artist, a jukebox. As a result the venues I play at are carefully selected. I really enjoy playing at festivals, wineries, upscale restaurant/ bars, theaters, and private events.

I have been a singer for as long as I can remember. I began playing the guitar, and writing songs in 2002. I bought my first guitar, and taught myself to play it. Song writing just came along with the package. It was frustrating in the beginning to have so much to want to play, and sing about, but not know the chords, or the way to navigate my way around the guitar yet. As soon as I could play a handful of songs, I hit the open mic scene at the local bars in Muncie, IN, while I was taking classes at Ball State University. My desire to play for people, and play live grew and grew. I formed my first full band in Muncie. We played several gigs together and practiced often. As it goes, college kids come and go, and so did the band. I was back to being me and my guitar.
What sets me apart from other bands? I would say my desire to progress, get better, get out there and play. I'm not saying other bands don't, because I have many friends on the same journey with a music career as I am. It gets hard. Not everyone is going to like it. I learned to accept that a long time ago, when I knew that I only wanted to play mostly original songs out live. It takes a special audience to accept you, and your material. I'm very grateful for my fans, friends, and family. They accepted me, and my special shows a long time ago.
I would say my first musical influences consisted of Jewel, and Tori Amos, maybe even Bangels. I have always been told I sound like Jewel. Maybe I do at times, maybe I don't. Maybe people just see me and I guitar, and think Jewel. I can agree. I leave that up to the audience to decide.
As of the last 7 years or so, Patty Griffin has been a big influence to me. I have a high appreciation for her melodies, and vocal abilities. Her guitar playing is amazing too. :)
Lately my musical journey consists of many things. Being a mom, wife, golf instructor, song-writer, self promoting, running ,my own independent record label (Right On Key Records LLC), booking, networking, song pitching for film/TV placements.
I'm a busy, strong, unique, determined individual. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I joined Sonicbids, hoping it will work hand in hand with all the things I want to do with my music career.
