Bio
With influences ranging from Rufus Wainwright to The Zombies, from John Mayer to the Beach Boys, Jamie Righetti blends sharp pop harmonies with confessional lyrics. Born in Queens, New York, Jamie began to show her musical abilities at an early age, undertaking piano lessons as a child and singing in a range of church and school choirs. But the childhood pastime turned serious when Jamie turned eighteen. Inspired to pick up the guitar by The Beatles' Abbey Road, Jamie discovered a new talent - her songwriting abilities.
Manned with her guitar and one of her original compositions, Jamie auditioned with the New York Singer/Songwriters session, a popular New York City songwriting guild. Jamie was an instant success, landing her on stages across New York City - including CBGB's and The Bitter End.
Although she plays both guitar and piano, it becomes clear upon the very first listen that Jamie's true instrument is her voice. Powerful and yet vulnerable, Jamie's vocals - which have drawn comparisons to Natalie Merchant and Fiona Apple - command each song, accentuating the carefully composed lyrics.
As her music begins to find its way onto more and more college stations across the country, it won't be long before Jamie Righetti become an nationwide sensation.
