Jamie Welch

Jamie Welch is an up-and-coming folk musician and lifelong Newburyport resident. He began studying music by taking piano lessons at the ripe old age of 4. Throughout most of his life, Jamie held a passion for the guitar. He was given his first guitar lessons at age 10 and has kept at it since. Although primarily a guitarist & vocalist, Jamie also tries his hand at other folk instruments including 5 string banjo, mandolin, autoharp, dulcimer and harmonica. His repertoire consists of a variety of covers including Paul Simon, James Taylor, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Buffett, John Denver and Peter Paul & Mary, as well as traditional folk songs, sea shanties, Irish folk music and Canadian maritime songs.

Jamie can often be found performing in downtown Newburyport and frequently sits in with North Shore folk musician Larry Young and company at O'Neill's Irish Pub in Salem, Massachusetts. He can occasionally be seen performing with local jazz & pop vocalist Sierra Partlan as well as Irish & maritime folksinger Jeff Hattabaugh, who also lends his talents on concertina, mandolin, fiddle and harmonica. Jamie has also played bass for Foggy Dae, a classic rock band fronted by singer/guitarist Josef Nocera.
