The Prayer

Written By: Jamie Winkler

He sat out side and watched the rain, with hope that it would wash away the pain, the thoughts of her ran through his mind, of all the smiles and those pretty blue eyes, if he could go back and do it all again, she’s the only thing that’d stay the same.
He remembers the day they met, the way she shined, every word they said, she was his dream come true, but since she left he doesn’t know what to do. He takes a drink to drown the hurt, but even whiskey never seems to work.
He sits and looks in the mirror, at what he’s become, not so much matters anymore, without her his heart is numb. And the pictures fly by in his mind, photos of a much happier time,
CHORUS: When he held her in louisiana, on a cold march night, looked into those endless eyes, and knew the love was right, told her that he’d never leave, his love was here to stay……Dear lord please take me back. Is what he prayed.
He turns out the light, and stumbles to his bed, holds his pillow tight, wishing it was her instead, sleep doesn’t come easy anymore, he’s always listening for a knock on the door, and dreams only fill him with pain, cause when he closes his eyes, there she is again.
CHORUS: And he remembers,When he held her in louisiana, on a cold march night, looked into those endless eyes, and knew the love was right, told her that he’d never leave, his love was here to stay……Dear lord please take me back. Is what he prayed…..Please lord take me back…..forever he will pray.
