BEST CHANCE TO BE A STAR

Ross’ name will surprise some people, since she’s only 16….she has a fine voice and more important, plenty of stage presence – obviously benefiting from her musical theater and film background. “Confusion”, the single from her forthcoming second album, boasts a swirling modern-rock sound that’s a nice fit. "Jami Ross : Working her way....The right way"

Jami Ross is blooming into stardom out of Lake County. With a beautiful singing voice, powerful stage presence, and a movie in the making, Jami has proved herself a rising star over the past year.

Sixteen year old Ross started performing for patients in nursing homes and in coffee houses, she eventually moved into large crowds at Peabody's, House of Blues and the Rock Hall. This past year she was nominated "best solo artist" for the Cleveland Music Awards. Her singing experience actually began in fourth grade when she started singing in a small group of friends. Her friends eventually went their separate ways and Ross stayed true to her passion and continued singing. Her pop/rock sound is appreciated by teens because of the honest and true life lyrics.

Ross recently landed a major show at Blossom where she was an opening act for Jewel and Rob Thomas. "This didn't start out as a career," Ross says. "It started out as fun and gradually started to become part of life." With the support of her parents, Ross is finding the path to lead her to the stage. Ross calls her parents and acoustic guitarist Matthew James Murphy, her "team."

"It would be hard to make it with out the support that I have," Ross states.

Ross will be making appearances in Tennessee, Pennsylvania and of course all over Cleveland. Her recent expansion has been exciting for Ross and expanding her fan base. Ross, a talented writer, has her own song lyrics in songs such as "Dependent" and "Waiting" which are on her "Figure Me Out" album. In attempt to one day write her own music, she has begun guitar and piano lessons. with the help of Murphy, Ross is growing familiar with music. "he is a great coach and an amazing song writer," Ross says. Ross is influenced greatly by the humble performances of Jewel and the edginess of Flyleaf. "Jewel is very genuine and real," says Ross. "I love Flyleaf's passion on stage." Currently, Ross is in the process of finishing up her first film "Madness" directed by Bill johns. Ross plays "Megan" - the lead heroin of the thriller. "Madness" will premiere in mid-July 2006. Starring in this movie has been a learning experience for Ross. though she is learning lines and acting, she is far from a stranger to the big screen. She has appeared in commercials for Nickelodeon, Dick's Sporting Goods, HighMark, and Homeland Security.
Ross has a fan base from adults to young kids and she portrays a beneficial image which is very true to her. As a popular and talented teen, many young girls look up to her and she portrays a responsible, respectable and confident role model image. Ross' busy schedule has suppressed the peer pressure that many teens may experience during high school, "It kind of saves me," Ross hopes that her young fans can stay away from the usual teenage pressures and also be responsible.

As Ross continues to make headway in her career, she strives to improve as an all around artist. This summer, Ross will be flying to California to focus on her film career and vocal lessons, while she continues to study guitar and piano. She hopes to grow as a performer and absorb extensive knowledge from her teachers and role models. "this next year is a growing time for me," Ross told The Voice. "I want to make sure that every move on stage is honest and true." Ross will be returning to Ohio for scheduled shows during her time away. With her quick leap into the spotlight, Ross has proved that she is making strides to develop as a performer. She states- "I am driven by love for what I do. Being on stage is therapeutic for me; it is a release for my feelings." Performing has become Ross' creative release and she is satisfied when her words are heard.

Jami Ross will be appearing at Peabody's Concert Club June 24th, and opening for Disney Stars Aly & Aj at the Tower City Amphitheater on June 28th. On July 2nd Ross will be at the Fairport Harbor Beach Mardi Gras celebration. On July 4th, Ross will be performing at mentor's Fourth of July Fireworks celebration at the Mentor Outdoor Amphitheater.

Be sure to catch Jami at one of her upcoming shows in the Cleveland area. Her fans will be sure to watch with excitement as she grows form new artist and flourishes as a performer with added confidence and the same honest respectability she owns today.
