In a time where conformity and commercialism have stripped music down to it’s core, there shines a beacon of hope. A beacon bright enough to prove that truly original and unique music still exists. It comes in the form of a soul, hip-hop, pop, rock combination that is sure to be a force to be reckoned with. If ever there were a place where the ears and mind are apprehensive to travel to, this voice will happily take you there. At the end of the journey lies true enjoyment, reflection and a vibe so positive and strong, you’ll be bouncing your head before you know it has even caught you. And the person bringing these new vibes to your neighborhood is none other than J. Ammo.

Originally hailing from Norristown, PA, J. Ammo was the son of a musically inclined minister mother and an absentee father. As far back as he can remember he was always in love with the sound of music. It‘s timeless tones, genuine nature and far reaching influences made for an amazing outlet for Ammo to voice his emotions and work through the hard times he and his single mother faced. Starting at the tender age of 6, he would hold $ .50 concerts for his mom and sisters where he would sing popular songs from the radio. From there he began writing poetry to express himself. As Ammo grew up he started learning about studio recording and producing from networking and meeting music colleagues. After his first visit to a local studio, he excitingly decided it was time to start writing lyrics and working on his own original material.

Influenced by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Jason Mraz, Alaina Nelson and Prince. Ammo meshes together many different genres of music to express his individuality as an artist. His signature style is a unique blend of positive, sincere and creative lyrics; sometimes sung, sometimes rapped, always laced with interesting melodies, over heartfelt music ranging from smooth and soulful Hip-Hop to pulsating, story-telling Rock. This clearly signifies that J.Ammo is an artist in a category all his own!

Perhaps his greatest influence and motivation was his late mother Marie. Before passing away from breast cancer late in 2007, Ammo’s mother told him to pursue his dreams. She told him there was no longer a reason to be afraid to sing his heart out. He has been running at the speed of light ever since. He has made it a goal to create music that is interestingly upbeat and outside the box. Now poised and focused, J. Ammo is ready to reach out to the world with the message that “Standing out… is okay!”
