I was born in Dakar, Senegal, West Africa to missionaries and lived there for a total of 16 years. I love Senegal with all of my heart and definitely see it as home. I was also on furlough in Spindale, NC for half of second grade and in Wheaton, IL for sixth grade and half of tenth grade. I've moved around quite a bit in my life but have experienced God across the world. He has been my rock wherever I have lived.
For me, rapping started in high school at Dakar Academy. Akon, originally from Senegal, was reaching global stardom and my friends listened to him and a lot of other rappers as well. I had been really into poetry starting in middle school and slowly I realized that rapping was a form of that. I remember putting on my friends' headphones and being captivated by the lyrics and beats of various artists. From then I started experimenting with putting my poetry to music. I can honestly say that I feel God when I rap.
I have now been perfecting the craft for more than 6 years and have had the privilege of performing at my college several times. I am currently working on an album called "Fallin' Awake" and hope to finish it before the end of this year.
The album is a collection of songs I've written dealing with the many questions we face in life. Since I am a recent graduate of Wheaton College, I am now having to face "real life." It has been easy to get caught up in my safe place and not branch out to those around me. I fell it's time to wake up to the struggles and pains of this world and I want to help others come to that realization in their lives. I have a deep passion for helping the weak in our societies and I want my music to tell their stories and compel us to help them.
Rapping is a blessing to me. I want to come alongside other rappers out there who believe in the powerful nature of this art form and want to use it to the glory of God. Thank you to family, friends, and fans for your support and encouragement along the way and may all the praise go to the Most High. God bless you all.
