Lyrics

All in Good Time

Written By: Jan Baker / Gord Matthews

She blows out the candles
and turns out the lights
and heads upstairs to bed
Shes not tired and its not late
But there's so much going on inside her head

She thinks about the flowers
The dinner and the wine
Was there something in his touch?
Were they more than old friends?
Was she hoping for too much?

Chorus
All in good time
Love will find a way
All in good time
Love will find you
Love will find you All in good time

He looks back in the mirror
As he drives away
Remembering her smile
Did her eyes look different
When he held her as they danced
Or has it been there for awhile?

They’ve been friends for a life time
When did his feelings change?
Should he call her up and tell her
Or would it be in vain?

Chorus
All in good time
Love will find a way
All in good time
Love will find you
Love will find you All in good time

He gets up to the corner
and he turns the car around
Not knowing what he’ll say
He’s taking a big chance
With his old friend
Hoping she feels the same way

She watches from the window
Dances down the stairs
She meets him at the door
Holding to each other
Locked inside a moment
That will last forever more

All in good time
Love has found a way
All in good time
Love has found you
Love has found you
All in good time
All in good time

Cowboys Lament

Written By: Jan Baker

He wears a hat and boots and he rides a horse
I’m talkin ‘bout a cowboy of course
He rides the prairie wild and free
Livin out the dreams of you and me
Yippie kai yoh yippie kai yea

Sittin’ in his office workin’ on the books
Tryin’ to make back what the government took
His way of living is coming to and end
He’ll move to the city and start again
Yippie kai yoh yippie kai yea

solo

Now he watches westerns on the late night show
Wipes away a tear cause that’s the way things go
In the name of progress must all things end
Is that the message we’re tryin’ to send
Yippie kai yoh yippie kai yea

He was raised on his Grandpa’s knee
With stories of his family’s history
What would they think....what would they say
If they could see him now

Ridin’ into the sunset with the fading light
Quietly lamenting the cowboy’s plight
An endangered species who’s on his side
Will this be his final ride
Yippie kai yoh yippie kai yea

Springtime

Written By: Jan Baker

Log pile peeking from beneath the snow
Safe inside as the cold wind blows
Fireplace roaring but it won’t last long
Another day or two until the firewood’s gone

It’s been too long since I’ve felt the warming sun
Pussywillow’s frozen guess they thought spring had come
Summer birds returning not knowing where to land
Another cold front’s coming things are getting out of hand

Chorus:
Springtime on the prairie
Is something to respect
The weather changes daily
May not be what you expect

Cabin fever is setting in
I remember green grass but how long has it been
Since I felt the warm earth beneath my feet
Turn off the winter turn up the heat

Icicles melting my hopes are high
Subtle changes in the morning sky
Giving grateful thanks to Mother Earth
For the changing seasons and the prairies rebirth

Chorus:
Springtime on the prairie
Is something to respect
The weather changes daily
May not be ...
Springtime on the prairie
Is something to respect
The weather changes daily
May not be what you expect

Hold Me

Written By: Jan Baker

Hold Me

Hold me ‘till the light fades
Hold me ‘till my heart stops breaking
Hold me ‘till my eyes forget to cry

Take me where I want to be
Far away from reality
Help me through my darkest hour

I never thought you’d leave me
I thought you’d stay forever
It’s funny how we get some things so wrong

ch: I close my eyes and dream of you
I will feel your arms around me
I’ll fall asleep in the memory of your embrace

Morning will come with the dawning of a new day
The clouds will part and the sun will shine
The pain will fade and I’ll learn to smile again

Moment by moment and day by day
Things will get better I know I’ll make it
But tonight pain is all I know

Ch: So.....

Just hold me ‘till the light fades
Hold me ‘till my heart stops breaking
Hold me ‘till my eyes forget to cry

Hold me
Hold me
Hold me

Saturday

Written By: Baker / Matthews / Allen

Saturday morning and I’m feeling fine
Having coffee with a friend of mine
Talkin’ bout everything and nothing at all
Surprised how quickly winter replaces the fall

Squirrel at the feeder looking for a meal
It seems everyone’s looking for a deal
When did life get so hectic anyway?
There just aren’t enough hours in the day

I wait for Saturday all week long
All my troubles and my cares are gone
They melt away into Saturday

After a while I may go back to bed
And pick up the book I’ve only half read
Leave a message when you hear the beep
A few pages in and I’ll be fast asleep

Don’t you love a lazy afternoon
Knowing the world will catch up all too soon
But for now, let it all ride
Pack up your troubles and set them aside

I wait for Saturday all week long
All my troubles and my cares are gone
They melt away into Saturday

BREAK

I wait for Saturday all week long
All my troubles and my cares are gone
They melt away into Saturday
They melt away into Saturday

Thankful for a break from the daily grind
Sure feels good to finally unwind
Living in the moment and I’m worry free
Nothing today is gonna bother me

Workday Blues

Written By: Jan Baker/ Gord Matthews SOCAN

Workday Blues

I only want whats comin to me
Do they think...I’m workin for free
I start early every morning
Work late every night
I’m making a living but it don’t seem right
Whoa oh I’ve got the work day blues

You live your life the best you can
But you know what happens to the best laid plans
they say to take a lunch break
but it doesn’t mean a thing
You just sit down to take a bite
and the phone begins to ring
Whoa oh I’ve got the work day blues

Steady work for steady pay
But steady bills keep on getting in the way
Can’t break free from the work day blues

Work gets harder .. the days are long
Plans for my future went awfully wrong
The taxman just collected my bonus and raise
I guess they think I can live on praise
Whoa oh I’ve got the work day blues
Whoa oh I’ve got the work day blues

I only want whats comin to me
Do they think...I’m workin for free
I start early every morning
Work late every night
I’m making a living but it don’t seem right
I only want whats comin to me
Do they think...I’m workin for free
I start early every morning
Work late every night
I’m making a living but it don’t seem right
Whoa oh I’ve got the work day blues
Whoa oh I’ve got the work day blues

Steady work for steady pay
But steady bills keep on getting in the way
Can’t break free from the work day blues
I got the workday blues

Simplicity

Written By: Baker / Matthews

Simplicity

You can call me simple I don’t really care
It’s a badge of honour that I’m proud to wear
I say I won’t conform but it leads me to dispair
I admit I’m battle worn sometimes its just not fair
mmmm I like it simple mmmm keep it simple

They say I’m old fashioned stuck in time and sand
It’s a passion some will never understand
The glow of a sunset or a silent star filled sky
The things of greatest beauty aren’t the ones that you can buy
mmmm I like it simple mmmm keep it simple

Chorus:
Some say less is better and I know it’s true
I was moving at the speed of light a change was overdue
So I’m slowing down the pace of life with you
mmmm simplicity mmmm simplicity

No matter what you’ve ever thought we’re given all we need
What really counts cannot be bought It’s planted with a seed
The love in a mother’s eyes has brought my own to tears
This joy is sent from up above and nurtured through the years
mmmm I like it simple mmmm keep it simple

Chorus

Solo

Some say less is better and I know it’s true
I was moving at the speed of light a change was overdue
So I’m slowing down the pace of life with you
mmmm simplicity mmmm simplicity

Perfect

Written By: Baker/ Matthews

Perfect

I thought about you all night long
About everything that went wrong
I couldn’t come up with one single thing
I think about you through the day
I love it when I hear you say
Mmmm ..... that I’m the one

I’m sitting here all alone
Wondering when you’ll phone
Thinking about love
And its rise and fall
I’m looking back through the years
Remembering the hopes and fears
Happy we worked together through them all

CHORUS:
‘Cause you’re perfect in my eyes
I see right through that tough disguise
You’re perfect in my eyes

I know that there will come a day
When we will look back and say
We knew we’d be together in the end
We stuck it out through thick and thin
When others got out we stayed in
We’re the best of friends

CHORUS:
‘Cause you’re perfect in my eyes
I see right through that tough disguise
You’re perfect in my eyes

You’re perfect in my eyes

Let's Go Home

Written By: Jan Baker

Let’s Go Home

I’m looking at the full moon And he’s smiling back at me
We both know a secret We’re guarding carefully
That courage to admit my faults Is something that I lack
But if I don’t swallow this false pride I’ll never get you back

Let’s get back on the path To where we were before
Take my hand in yours Let’s go home

I don’t even remember How it all began
But somewhere we stopped talking And things got out of hand
Now I realize That love has to be earned
And it’s time to put in play Life’s lessons that I’ve learned

Let’s get back on the path To where we were before
Take my hand in yours Let’s go home

Let’s both say we’re sorry And find our love again
Forget all of this worry About the why the where the when
Love answers the questions Coming from the heart
If we work on this together We’ll make a brand new start

Let’s get back on the path To where we were before
Take my hand in yours Let’s go home Let’s go home
We’re going home.

Together

Written By: Baker/Matthews/Allen

Together

I was walking down the road
Trying to lighten a heavy load
It was nearing the end of a very long day
And then I thought of you
You know those times when nothing goes right
The tunnel’s dark There is no light
A weight so heavy your footsteps drag
And then I thought of you

You are the one I reach for in the night
The first one I see in the early morning light...
We greet the day together
greet the day together
And as we leave to face the day
and our paths go separate ways
We won’t let life get us down
we’ll face the world together

I turned a corner and I saw you standing there
You were smiling in a way that showed you care
I felt my troubles start to slip away
As I thought of you

You took my hand and we walked the other way
We watched the sunset fade
We left the worries of the world behind
And I thought of you

You are the one I reach for in the night
The first one I see in the early morning light....
We greet the day together
greet the day together
And as we leave to face the day
and our paths go separate ways
We won’t let life get us down
we’ll face the world together

SOLO

greet the day together
greet the day together
And as we leave to face the day
and our paths go separate ways
We won’t let life get us down
we’ll face the world together

you & me together, we greet the day together,
we face the world together.

Sometimes

Written By: Baker/Matthews/Allen

Sometimes

Sometimes when I look in your eyes
I wonder, wonder at the mystery
You tell me, tell me I’m the only one
Miscommunication
Sometimes in the still of night
I awake, I lie there and think of you
Reflecting on what went wrong
Disconnection

Sometimes I just want to hear you say
That we can work it out
Or go our separate ways
Although now we are of different minds
I’m still in love with you
Sometimes
I still love you
Sometimes

Lately when I feel your touch
I know, know you feel the way I do
Scared of holding on
Scared of letting go
Hesitation

Sometimes I just want to hear you say
That we can work it out
Or go our separate ways
Although now we are of different minds
I’m still in love with you
Sometimes

Break: (over verse)

Sometimes I just want to hear you say
That we can work it out
Or go our separate ways
Although now we are of different minds
I’m still in love with you
Sometimes
I still love you, still love you,
still love you
Sometimes

Can't Get Enough of You

Written By: Jan Baker

Give me a minute
Give me an hour
Give me a lifetime
Can't get enough of you
Wherever the road leads
Whatever your heart needs
Whenever you reach out
You know I'll be there for you

The little things you do
Keep me loving you
It's the softest touch
That always says so much

Chorus

Like starlight in the sky
There's a twinkle in your eye
No words could ever say
What your smile gives away

Chorus

The simple truth is this
When you've got it right
There's nothing left to prove
Love stands on it's own
Initials carved in stone.

Chorus

You know I'll be there for you
I can't get enough of you.
