Jane Dough

Jane Dough

 Cleveland, Ohio, USA

Jane Dough is a four piece original rock and roll band with a late 60's/early 70's vibe. The band is female fronted, and features Songbird-vocals/guitars, Brendan Gilberti- guitars, Mike Pella- bass, and Ernie Richmann- drums. Jane Dough has performed concerts at various festivals (NLQP, NORML, etc)

Jane Dough is a band that brings to mind the glory days of Rock and Roll. Armed with a rock solid rhythm section, passionate guitar leads, and powerfully written lyrics that are delivered with the brute force of a tidal wave, this four piece band is not to be taken lightly.
Founded in late 2005 by frontwoman Songbird and lead guitar player Brendan Gilberti, Jane Dough has rocked large festivals and venues all over the N.E. Ohio area. The band's influences draw from the music of the late 60's and early 70's, and has a sound that is compatible with that of Crazy Horse, CCR, The Byrds, and other similar bands of the day. The band's music features mostly original material written by Songbird, but does/can feature select covers from the late 60's/ early 70's.
Following the success of their debut single, 'Grist For The Mill', which charted on WRUW 91.1 FM's "Top 10" list for three months following it's exclusive release to the station (Source: Last FM), the band is currently working on their highly anticipated debut album, tentatively scheduled to be released in mid 2011.
The band has been featured in numerous websites, newspapers, and national publications, and is professionally endorsed by Steve Clayton Picks and Accessories. Songbird was honored for her songwriting with an ASCAP award in 2007. For more information about the band, please be sure to visit Jane Dough's official website at http://www.janedough.net.

Grist For The Mill

Written By: Songbird (of Jane Dough)

Another drink to sell, another seat to fill
Another day closer till you're over the hill
Another long night, another cheap thrill
Another reminder that you're grist for the mill

A thousand miles down a long black hole
Really ain't nowhere left to go
Been a million places, lost count of the faces
A long time ago

Better grist for the mill, than nothing at all
Better out in the open, than behind a stone wall
Out on a limb, with a long way to fall
Better down and out- than nowhere at all!

Runnin' on coffee, high as a kite
Tied to threads of hope to make it through the night
Dimestore novel on a long sleepless night
In a cheap motel with a blue neon light

Tore it up last night, we really brought that pour house down
Give me the strength- to go one more round
Just one more chance- to hear that sound
One more day- above the ground

Another drink to sell, another seat to fill
Another day passin' that you're over the hill
Another long night, another cheap thrill
Another reminder that you're grist for the mill

Grist for the mill-
We're all grist for the mill
We're only grist for the mill
