New york based R&B vocalist Janet D. is a singer songwriter with a sweet, sexy inviting sound, beathy vocals and catchy melodies... She was born in Long island, NY on december 22, 1983 to dominican parents...She grew up in Dominican republic and as a young girl aspired to be a model....when she moved to Long Island,she took interest in sports, played basketball for 9 years....Her interest for singing didnt really come until she started college, when she stopped playing volleyball, she took out her journals and poetry books and got back to her writing...One day while singing in the shower, a close friend heard her and insisted that she record a track with a close friend of his named bilyon. After recording that first song "Walk on BY" she was encouraged to pursue a musical career and despite some hesitation, she went for it....From that moment on everything fell into place, she met her first and current producer JUNO......Working with Juno opened alot of doors for her and through the years continued to work on her vocals and her writing perfecting her craft....Afterwards she hooked up with incredible producers like bacardee, BenG, J dibbs, LP and Frank Nitty......With the help of J dibbs who is a talented singer/producer/songwriter/musician she took songwriting and vocals lessons....She has also performed in many open mics,showcases and clubs like Umbrellas in NYC. In 2006, She was nominated for the most promising female r&b singer at the underground music awards in NYC. In 2006 she also traveled to Texas for a cameo apperance on the independent Film "The Spot' where 5 of her tracks are featured on the soundtrack and the movie...the movie is set to tentatively be released march 2007...There is still more to come, In 2007 she's in the process of finalizing a deal with mtv for a special project and is also working on perfecting her songwriting skills...The doors keep opening up and its just a matter of time .....
