"Enchanting"

he only thing that kept this song from getting a perfect 10 is the fact that it skips in the first second. Gods, it makes me feel dirty to give such a good review.. but what can I do? This is what top scores are for.

Maybe it's because I'm a sucker for pretty girl music. Maybe it's because I'm a sucker for a pretty girl - although it isn't necessarily a factor in rating a song, it doesn't hurt either.

Seriously though, upon hearing this song I immediately set about downloading all of her songs. I even went to buy the CD online (which would be the first time I've ever done so), but unfortunately the cost after all the taxes and shipping exceeds my Canadian funds, which are reserved for travelling. Being from Vancouver as she is - and by virtue of proximity - I intend to hook up with a disc next time I'm in her neighbourhood.

However, if you're NOT close to Vancouver and can't just pick it up next time you pass through enroute to the place of your youth, then it's worth just any price.

Simply put: if you like girl music, then you're going to love Janet Panic. Her voice is sweet, her music is funky and uplifting, her lyrics are clever and intelligent, and basically everything about her is downright enchanting.

Enchanting. That's the word to describe her. Pardon my rambling thoughts, but I'm completely stoked to have found her. It's for artists like Janet that I started reviewing music in the first place. Sure, writing embarassing reviews of really crappy songs is entertaining, but all the trash I've had to sift through before I found Ms. Panic's music has been worth it; she is a real gem, and genuine artiste in a sea of bunk.

Go to her site. Download all her songs, and put Winamp on repeat. You will want to buy her CD. You will want to see her live. You will wish that you could snuggle with her. You will wonder how you ever survived without her music. Great things are in store for her.

Unless you don't? I suppose music is all a matter of taste, which is what reviewing is, really... but to mine own it's orgasmic ambrosia and I can't wait to hear more from her.

Major high-five's here.

That much being said, I'm going to have to go shower three times and then find a crappy song to review, to drop my average score down a bit to balance this out because I feel just icky to say so many nice things.

"Bewitching Janet Panic is worth watching"

This disc's witchy cover graphic is a good indication of the crafty, spellbinding lyricss within, as well .is Janet Panic's devilish sense of humour. The second solo CD from the singer-songwriter, who once fronted local band 10 Ft. Henry, The Girl Who Passed for normal manages to stay one step ahead of expectations through imaginative arrangements and witty lyrics. Smart, funny tunes like "Lousy Wife"—basically a list of the reasons Panic might not be ideal mate-for-life material ("I drank your last beer then you lost all hope/I waited 'til you passed out/Then I smoked all your dope")—are the rule rather than the exception. Panic also out-Leonards Leonard Cohen on "Everybody Loves My Baby" and rewrites Bob Seger's "Night Moves" in the punchy "Blink". The slinky "The Way It goes" is just drop-dead sexy, and the French tracks might be too, if I'd paid attention during high-school French class. Clearly, Panic is one Wiccan worth watching. - The Georgia Straight

"Janet Panic, we salute you."

But you know who really is cool? Her name is Janet Panic and I nominate her as the sexiest performer in town! Sorry, Lead Singer from the Colorifics, but there's a new pop idol in town
Not just because of the supple Panic torso on display (long live the hip-hugger jean!) but also because of all the song introductions that went "this one's about how horny I was" and that sort of thing. Normally this would be enough for me to subscribe to an e-mail newsletter but her pop songs are actually fun, too! Sorry you missed it but you can have another chance this Thursday (that's March 27) at my home away from home, The Roxy! Don't miss out on this exciting new Vancouver artist, endorsed by Sun man-on-the-street Malcolm Parry. - WESTENDER

Entirely trippy pop music Westender

Artist Janet Panic writes beautifully crafted songs, from clever finger picking guitar melodies to cheeky turn of phrase. In the past 2 years her captivating solo/band performances have been seen on 4 telecasts on 3 different National networks: Global, CTV and APTN. Her music has attracted the attention of names such as Bruce Allen, Daniel Lanois and Ani DiFranco all the while expanding a dedicated fan base nationwide. Produced by Jeff Dawson (Dan Powter, Kelly Rowland, The Dudes, State Of Shock). Ms. Panic's new single, "Sweet Music is the latest addition
to her delectable music storytelling. Call her music essential pop. This B.C. based singer/songwriter
has been casting her spell over an ever-expanding fan base on the strength of her great songs. She was nominated for a 2011 Canadian Folk Music Award as well as an Aboriginal People's Choice Award in 2011, and her lastest release, Samples garnered her Best Folk Album at the 2012 APCMAs. A polished and engaging performer, Ms. Panic is earthy and unpretentious drawing you onto her stage with raw charisma. But at the end of the day, the thing you will remember is the songs and her name. (And yes, that's her real name!) " Her New Album ,Most of What Follows is True..." slated for a January 2013 release
