It's a trick to make music that is at once poppy and eerie, polished yet indie. Calgary native Jamie Fooks is on her way. She's a cool soul siren with a heavy heart; her pop-noir compositions are brought to life with commendable efficiency by herself (on vocals, keyboards and beats) and her bandmates (on guitars, banjo, ukelele, strings, mandolin and accordion).
