Biography

Based out of Alaska, Janie Lidey is an Emmy award winning singer-songwriter who has been writing music nearly all of her life. Rather than focus on her craft alone, Janie dedicated herself to teaching music in the public schools of Alaska for 25 years. In 2011, Janie decided to follow her passion and become a full time singer-songwriter. Her new single, “Love at First Sight” will be released in July 2012, and her new album, “Janie Lidey- Nothin’ But A Smile” will be available on itunes in June 2012.
Janie has been recognized for her excellence in music by winning an Emmy for her songwriting; a Grammy for her high school music program; the Mayor’s Arts Award for her excellence in music education; and, a spot on the George Lucas Edutopia website for her role in helping make the world a better place. Janie has been an inspirational singer/speaker at events including: "The Rachel’s Challenge Summit" in Denver Colorado, Cancer Relays in California and Alaska, and World Aides Day Ceremonies to name just a few.
Janie is a person who believes in the power of gratitude and the magic of intentions. She has kept a gratitude journal for years and has had several ‘dream boards’ in her home. One of her dreams has been to open for Sheryl Crow and to have Faith Hill sing one of her songs. On a trip to Nashville last spring, unbeknownst to her, Janie stayed with a close friend of Sheryl Crow, and visited with another friend who lives right next door to Faith Hill. She may not have experienced the whole dream yet, but it seems there was less than 6 degrees of separation keeping her from realizing that gratitude and intention will take her to the next level in her career.
After a chance meeting with a clairvoyant in a laundry room one day, Janie was told the following: Her music was meant to be heard on a very large scale, she would meet the man of her dreams in the spring of 98, she would have a baby when she turned 38, and the number 8 was very significant. The following year, she met her husband on March 8th, 1998, they were 8 years apart in age, 8 days separated their birthdays and they had a baby 3 days after Janie turned 38. With her music being played in over 30 countries worldwide and a Nashville promotion in the works, it appears the clairvoyant was right about it all.
Janie is married to Sean Lidey and they live in a log cabin in Alaska that they built together after their son Tristan was born. With 4 albums under her belt, and an Emmy on her piano, Janie is only a plane ride away from any performance opportunity and she is ready to take flight.

Good Bad Girl

Good Bad Girl
Words & Music By Janie Lidey
C 2009

I can be an angel in everybody’s eyes
I can be an angel it don’t take much a disguise
I can be an angel in everybody’s eyes
But when it comes to lovin’ him I kiss her goodbye

‘Cause he makes me wanna shed my wings
He makes me wanna do certain things
He makes me shed my good girl shell
Yeah it all goes to hell when he says I’m a good bad girl

I can be the nicest girl at the party tonight
I can be the one who’s makin’ sure everybody’s doin’ alright
Yeah I can be the nicest girl at the party tonight
But when it comes to lovin’ him I kiss her goodbye

‘Cause he makes me wanna shed my wings
He makes me wanna do certain things
He makes me shed my good girl shell
Yeah it all goes to hell when he says I’m a good bad girl

Give me a G OOD Give me a B AD
Give me a G IRL What does it spell? (GOOD BAD GIRL)

Guitar Lead

‘Cause he makes me wanna shed my wings

The Simple Things

Written By: Janie Lidey

The Simple Things
Words & Music by Janie Lidey

I like the look of shadows on the wall
And I like the way you catch me when I fall
And I like the sound of thunder in the night
And I like the way that when it rolls
It makes you hold me tighter

It’s the simple things that I like livin’ for
Like the way you smile it makes me hit the floor
Like the way that your left eye kinda closes when you grin
It’s like the love you got me fallin’ in

And I like the voice that wakes just down the way
And says Mom is this a spend together day
And I like the way we laugh out of control
Even when it seems there’s nothin’ funny at all

It’s the simple things that I like livin’ for
Like the way you smile it makes me hit the floor
Like the way that your left eye kinda closes when you grin
It’s like the love you got me fallin’ in

And I like to think that heroes never die
And I like to wander at the stars up in the sky
And I believe in the eternity of love
And that someone watches over from above

It’s the simple things that I like livin’ for
Like the way you smile it makes me hit the floor
Like the way that your left eye kinda closes when you grin
It’s like the love you got me fallin’ in

Say Goodbye

Say Goodbye
Music & Lyrics by Janie Lidey
C 2012

I remember when I said I do I meant it forever and I thought you did too
I remember when you said I will you were so convincing I can feel it still
And you never seemed like you were lyin’
And I never dreamed that you would make me cry and

I don’t wanna waste any time listenin’ to your stories and tryin’ to make it right
And I don’t wanna wait for the day when you say she didn’t mean a thing
I just wanna say goodbye

I remember lying upstairs and waiting for the phone to ring sayin’ you’d be late
I never gave a second thought to all the things you told me ‘cause I thought you were worth the wait
And it never seemed like you were lyin’
And I never dreamed that you would make me cry and

I don’t wanna waste any time listenin’ to your stories and tryin’ to make it right
And I don’t wanna wait for the day when you when she didn’t mean a thing
I just wanna say goodbye

Instrumental Break

I don’t wanna shed another tear
I just wanna face my fears and let you go…

I don’t wanna waste any time listenin’ to your stories and tryin’ to make it right
And I don’t wanna wait for the day when you when she didn’t mean a thing
I just wanna say goodbye

Love At First Sight

Love at First Sight
Music & Lyrics by Janie Lidey
C 2012

When I think about the day we met
And I fell outside my safety net
Baby I just can’t forget the way you looked at me
It was in the spring of 98
And you asked me on a date
I didn’t answer right away
But baby I couldn’t wait

And I think that I could see stars shooting across the sky
When you kissed me goodbye that night
And I think that maybe this might be considered the all time biggest case
Of Love at first sight

I remember when you picked me up
And you pulled up in your big red truck
Baby I just can’t forget the way I looked at you
It was ‘bout a quarter after eight
My daddy said now girl you don’t be late
And I could see him standing at the gate
As we drove away

And I think that I could see stars shooting across the sky
When you kissed me goodbye that night
And I think that maybe this might be considered the all time biggest case
Of Love at first sight

We lost track of time and as we drove down my drive
We saw Daddy waitin' with that look in his eye
And he said son you’d better have a good excuse or you’re dead
And right in front of Daddy he got down on his knees and he said

Well I think that I could see stars shooting across the sky
When I kissed her goodbye tonight
And I think that maybe this might be considered the all time biggest case
Of Love at first sight

And I think that I could see stars shooting across the sky
When you kissed me goodbye that night
And I think that maybe this might be considered the all time biggest case
Of Love at first sight…

Laugh While You're Cryin'

Laugh While You’re Cryin’
Music & Lyrics by Janie Lidey
c 2012

Have you ever felt cold standin’ in a hot shower
Smelled somethin’ fowl while you’re breathing in a flower
Have you ever had a day where it feels like nothin’s goin’ your way
Every time you turn around somethin’ isn’t OK

Well you can laugh while you’re cryin’
Live while you’re dyin’
Smile when you’re mad
Be happy when you’re sad
It all comes down to livin’ in the moment
And lovin’ what you’re doin’
Even if ya don’t

Have you ever been lost even though you just found your way
Or been in love and had the guy just toss you away
Have you ever been late even though you left early
Had to be on task when you were feelin’ kinda squirly

Well you can laugh while you’re cryin’
Live while you’re dyin’
Smile when you’re mad
Be happy when you’re sad
It all comes down to livin’ in the moment
And lovin’ what you’re doin’
Even if ya don’t

I wanna laugh
I wanna live
I wanna smile and be happy for a little while

Well you can laugh while you’re cryin’
Live while you’re dyin’
Smile when you’re mad
Be happy when you’re sad
It all comes down to livin’ in the moment
And lovin’ what you’re doin’
Even if ya don’t

Nothin' But A Smile

Nothin’ But A Smile
Music & Lyrics by Janie Lidey
c 2012

I got nothin’ but a smile
‘Cause I’ll be home in a little while
I got a room with a view
I got a picture of me and you
I got a sweet memory
About nothin’ but you and me
And I’ll be home in a little while
So I got nothin’ but a smile

Love sweet love
When I’m with you I just can’t get enough
And I got a grin from ear to ear
And when I cry, I got nothing’ but a happy tear

I got a warm fuzzy feel
‘Cause what you’re givin’ me is oh so real
I got a song in my heart
I keep singin’ when we’re apart
And every dream that I dream
I see nothin’ but you and me
And I’ll be home in a little while
So I got nothin’ but a smile

Love sweet love
When I’m with you I just can’t get enough
And I got a grin from ear to ear
And when I cry, I got nothing’ but a happy tear

I got a whole lot of love
I got the blue of the sky above
I got a sweet valentine
I know the sun’s gonna shine
And I'm the luckiest girl
That I know in this whole wide world
And I’ll be home in a little while
So I got nothin’ but a smile

Love sweet love
When I’m with you I just can’t get enough
And I got a grin from ear to ear
And when I cry, I got nothing’ but a happy tear
I got nothin’ but a smile…

Just A Memory

Just A Memory
Music & Lyrics By Janie Lidey
c 2012

I saw an old friend the other day and it took me by surprise
I didn’t know how much my heart would swell when I looked in his eyes
I hadn’t seen him since the day we said goodbye
And he didn’t know how many teardrops I had cried
I didn’t realize the feelings I’d been hidin’
‘Till I saw an old friend the other day.

Time goes by
We spread our wings and we learn to fly
But in a moment we can drop back down to the ground with just a memory

I heard an old song the other day and it took me way back when
I could see and hear and smell and feel the way things were back then
I hadn’t felt that way for oh so very long
It brought back feelings that I thought were long gone
I didn’t realize the things that I was hangin’ on
‘Till I heard an old song the other day

Time goes by
We spread our wings and learn to fly
But in a moment we can drop back down to the ground with just a memory

I no longer want to be
Caught up in your memory
I just wanna set you free once more
I’m flyin high above the ground
And I don’t wanna drop back down
I just wanna spread my wings and soar

Time’s gone by
I spread my wings and I learned to fly
And there ain’t nothin’ that can drop me back down to the ground
‘Cause your just a memory…
