Bio

Based out of Alaska, Janie Lidey is an Emmy award winning singer-songwriter who has been writing music nearly all of her life. Rather than focus on her craft alone, Janie dedicated herself to teaching music in the public schools of Alaska for 25 years. In 2011, Janie decided to follow her passion and become a full time singer-songwriter. Her new single, “Love at First Sight” will be released in July 2012, and her new album, “Janie Lidey- Nothin’ But A Smile” will be available on itunes in June 2012.
Janie has been recognized for her excellence in music by winning an Emmy for her songwriting; a Grammy for her high school music program; the Mayor’s Arts Award for her excellence in music education; and, a spot on the George Lucas Edutopia website for her role in helping make the world a better place. Janie has been an inspirational singer/speaker at events including: "The Rachel’s Challenge Summit" in Denver Colorado, Cancer Relays in California and Alaska, and World Aides Day Ceremonies to name just a few.
Janie is a person who believes in the power of gratitude and the magic of intentions. She has kept a gratitude journal for years and has had several ‘dream boards’ in her home. One of her dreams has been to open for Sheryl Crow and to have Faith Hill sing one of her songs. On a trip to Nashville last spring, unbeknownst to her, Janie stayed with a close friend of Sheryl Crow, and visited with another friend who lives right next door to Faith Hill. She may not have experienced the whole dream yet, but it seems there was less than 6 degrees of separation keeping her from realizing that gratitude and intention will take her to the next level in her career.
After a chance meeting with a clairvoyant in a laundry room one day, Janie was told the following: Her music was meant to be heard on a very large scale, she would meet the man of her dreams in the spring of 98, she would have a baby when she turned 38, and the number 8 was very significant. The following year, she met her husband on March 8th, 1998, they were 8 years apart in age, 8 days separated their birthdays and they had a baby 3 days after Janie turned 38. With her music being played in over 30 countries worldwide and a Nashville promotion in the works, it appears the clairvoyant was right about it all.
Janie is married to Sean Lidey and they live in a log cabin in Alaska that they built together after their son Tristan was born. With 4 albums under her belt, and an Emmy on her piano, Janie is only a plane ride away from any performance opportunity and she is ready to take flight.
