Bio
Janika Shanay Brown (born December 17, 1990 in Boston, MA) is an up and coming artist, performing anywhere she can, showcasing her talents as one of Boston's hottest R&B/ Hip Hop artists. As a young child, Janika began singing in her church choir and was soon writing poetry and later music. Janika was very invested in music, taking piano and private singing lessons, while performing in various talent shows and contests. While attending the John D. O'Bryant School of Mathematics & Science in Boston, she won 2nd place in the “OB Idol” contest, singing Beyonce's “Listen” and Ella Fitzgerald's “My Romance.” Demonstrating her dancing skills as a member of her school’s dance team and of the Hip Hop Dance Company “Swagga Incorporated,” she developed the love for dance. Janika performed in the 2009 4th Annual Urban Music Awards sponsored by Touch 106.1 FM, where she took part in the Tribute to New Edition. Being the youngest Tribute performer of five vocalists, she sang lead on Bobby Brown's, “Rock Wit'cha” and New Edition's, “If It isn't Love.” Janika is currently attending the University of New Haven in Connecticut double majoring in music industry and sound recording while working her way into the music industry. Janika has been compared to several of the world's greatest artists such as Beyonce, Aaliyah and Mary J Blige. Even as she is compared to her most biggest influences though, she continues to develop her own sound.
