Lochert's solid rhythm and Carper's deep groove and inspired lead and slide guitar embellish their incredible vocal skills. Whether belting one of their strong original songs or creatively interpreting a jazz or blues standard, their voices entwine resulting in a fun, entertaining and always fresh performance.

Lochert and Carper have been performing together since the release of the compilation recording "Songs from the End of the Road" in 2008, which is a snapshot of music created in the remote area of eastern Oregon they each call home.

Since stealing the show at age six as the “Head Lettuce” in the play Peter Rabbit, Carolyn Lochert has felt most at home on the stage. Her diverse musical career has taken her from classical to R&B to jazz. Improvisation and the strong relationship between jazz and blues shape her current musical interests. In the last few years she’s been focusing on writing and recording her own music and has recently recorded a compilation of new work with Janis Carper, Heidi Muller and Rodd Ambroson titled “Songs From the End of the Road”. Lochert’s smooth vocals, colorful arrangements and no-nonsense lyrics are all hallmarks of her songs.

Janis Carper is an award-winning songwriter, singer, and guitarist who has six recordings to her credit. Her soulful vocals, masterful guitar playing, and well-crafted songs have been heard at festivals, concert halls and radio programs nationwide. Her skills as accompanist, producer and teacher broaden the scope of her musical endeavors.

Winning songwriting awards at festivals including the famed Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas, Janis has also toured internationally in the off-broadway hit "Woody Guthrie's American Song." Her 1992 recording No Place to Land was chosen as one of the top twelve independent recordings by The Performing Songwriter magazine. Peter, Paul & Mary have recently released "Of This World," co-written by Janis with Becca Christel Palm and Tracy Spring.

Janis Carper currently performs solo, as a duo with Carolyn Lochert, and with her guitar-driven original Americana/rock/blues band The Alibis.
