It's a long way from an open mike in Scottsdale, Arizona to The Late Show with David Letterman, but Jann Karam did it with only about a million stops along the way. Seeing the incredible enthusiasm Jann brings to every performance makes it clear just how much she loves making audiences laugh. “A comedic breakthrough” – New York Times. Jann Karam has made numerous appearances on both Late Show with David Letterman and The Tonight Show. She was selected as the only woman to perform on HBO's 13th Annual Young Comedians Show hosted by Dennis Miller. Jann and has had many guest-starring roles on T.V. shows, including Seinfeld—she played Jerry’s girlfriend who wouldn’t laugh in the episode The Switch--Norm, Mad About You, Politically Incorrect, Dr. Katz, and more. She was a series regular on the last incarnation of The Carol Burnett Show. Jann performs regularly at premiere comedy clubs across the nation, and is a college favorite.

Jann wrote, directed, and starred in the award-winning film Under the Big Muu-Muu, a funny, heartwarming story about mother-daughter relationships. She’s wowed audiences around the country with her one-woman show, Reclining Nude on La Cienega,” a hand-painted monologue about life, love and finding a place to lie down. She’s recently completed a book of short stories that explore topics similar to the theme of the show.

Jann’s humorous, political essay, A Superficial Take on Historical Political Events as Perceived While Watching CNN and MSNBC was recently published on Huffington Post. She’s a regular performer in Sit ‘n Spin, a personal essay show at the Comedy Central Theatre in Los Angeles.

Watch for Jann, who plays herself, in the upcoming series, The Foreclosure of Taylor Negron, as well as the soon-to-be released short film Eat the Rich. In addition, Jann is currently developing a half-hour comedy series for television, The Accidental Madam.

While performing stand-up in clubs in Chicago, she studied improvisation at Second City in Chicago, then moved on to New York, where she became a regular performer at notable clubs throughout the city including Catch a Rising Star. She studied acting with Sanford Meisner for many years in both New York and Los Angeles. She currently resides in LA with her black cat, Kitty.
