Bio
Jan Rivera is a fusion (jazz/rock) solo guitarist based in California that has been crafting his sound since the year 2000.
While in California, Jan has studied privately under the direction of guitar greats Alex Machacek (solo guitarist, Planet X, Virgil Donati's Fusion Band), and Greg Howe (solo guitarist, Michael Jackson).
Growing up in Puerto Rico, there weren't opportunities to study popular music, and that is why Jan studied music education (classical guitar) at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, San German Campus. He graduated with honors from both a B.A. in Musical Arts and a B.M. in Music Education. He also completed all coursework for a Master's in Music Education.
After the opportunity finally presented itself to study popular music, Jan relocated to California in 2007 to study at the world renowned Musician's Institute at Hollywood. Due greatly to the fact that he was awarded with both the school's Musicianship and Development Scholarships; he plans to graduate from both the Bachelor's and Associate's degrees in Electric Guitar Performance of the GIT department.
