"Five Star Friday"

Japanese Toys have been around a while, and even longer if you count the time they spent as Marvin, and they stood out as easily the most polished of the acts on show. American mid-rock at its finest from the Fairview based quartet, complete with guitar solos, harmonised vocals, Christ, even the drums seemed to be pounding at raised thirds. The J-Toys play non-stop, never letting up as one sugar sweet song after another gets thrown to the soon to be diabetic crowd, who aren’t concerned with health issues, only how much longer they can keep up with the pace. They manage though, and the Toys keep em coming for a while longer, using every trick in the book to keep the songs sounding fresh through their distinctive sound. Their performance set the bar at this show, each of the other acts could learn something from this act. - Drop-d.ie

Bio

Japanese Toys write and record music in a converted art studio in a dark lane in Dublin. Japanese Toys songs would be best described as emotional, catchy alternative rock with harmonies to die for. The band released their debut single On My Stereo/Brave New World with a Dublin show in Radio City in November 2007. The single made it to number 6 in the Irish download charts and both songs won awards on GarageBand.com, such as three times best female vocalist (On My Stereo) and Track of the Day twice(Brave New World). The band have previously appeared in Hotpress, and supported such well - known irish acts as The Thrills, National Prayer Breakfast, Blink and Turn. The band have also had a great listener response from airplay on Dublin station Phantom fm making their charts twice.
