Kampala, Uganda – New artisit, Jaq Deweyi releases her first single; “Oukawamunabi”, the song of Hope.
Produced by Vince Musisi of Swangz Avenue, “Oukawamunabi” has been hinted to become a hit.
“Her song is going to make people appreciate their mother tongues. I think it’s going to do well most especially in mbale.” says Benon Mugumbya, Production Director - Swangz Avenue.
After several months in artist development under ejayEntertainment, star attraction Jaq has finally released her first single, Oukawamunabi.
Oukawamunabi, which literary means “Hope” in Gishu was composed and performed by Jaq Deweyi, a singer, song writer and Radio presenter with 93.3 KFM.
The song is the first off her Album which is at the inception stages, set for release this year, 2013.
She is currently working on a six track CD which she hopes to release early this September.
Oukawamunabi was officially released on Friday, 26th April, 2013 and is currently enjoying local Radio airplay and on African Crest Radio, an online radio in South African.

JAQ Deweyi is a Ugandan-based singer and song writer influenced by
Contemporary African Musicians like Brenda Fassie and Angélique Kidjo.
JAQ recorded her first single; “Oukwamunabi” early 2013 and released it
April 26, 2013.
2013 was not a bad year for the singer and song writer, she released her
first single in Kampala’s No. 1 night spot; Govnor, went on to have her
first live performance and first professional performance ever at the
Black Gold Nights at Sheraton Kampala Hotel, released her second single
in July 12, 2013. To crown it all, she released Yolele – Christmas Is
Here, a Christmas song that was defined as a “fitting Christmas Carol”
by Daily Monitor. “It is a song that easily relates with the times, and
passes as a fitting Christmas carol.”
2014 saw her release her first 7 track EP called Sun In The Rain.
Outside studio, JAQ is a Radio Presenter at 93.3 KFM, Voice-over artist,
Events Emcee, TEDx Speaker and Hepatitis B Ambassador in Uganda.
