Biography

It all began in July 2011 at the age of 15. That's when the singer, songwriter, actress and instrumentalist, Ja’Quay, was crowned a diva by her peers. When this happened, the heavily requested teen smiled and said, "I’m going to kick the door down with this one", as she confidently referred to her hit song “Shush”; which was being distributed at that time by Island Def Jam Digital Distribution.

The talented musician hails proudly from Chester, PA. The first EP she released was entitled, “Fearless”. It is a project that has thrilled her numerous fans across the world. Her song entitled “1 Thing” has received outstanding reviews from fans and from DJ’s that have attended her recent concerts. Ja’Quay's music has a combination of high energy and thought provoking lyrics and she alone has an uncanny ability to entertain people of all ages. Typically a quiet young lady, she enjoys reading and listening to various genre's music, but when she steps on stage "The DIVA" comes to life and she captivates her audience at full tilt.

Ja’Quay credits much of her success to the influences of artists such as: Chaka Chan, Ethel Waters, Michael Jackson, Beyonce, The Rufnexz (her uncle’s), Patti Labelle and Aretha Franklin just to name a few.

At the tender age of 9 years old, she wrote and recorded her first single. She has graciously shared the stage with legends like Sean Paul, Special ED, Rob Base, Jackal the Bear, Melly Mel and The Furious Five, Kurtis Blow and Mario. Ja'Quay has also co-starred in the remarkable stage production of "The Gate Called Straight", which starred the renowned gospel recording artist BB Winans, and which was also directed by Grammy Award winning artist Stephanie Mills. Not to mention that Ja’Quay has already made her national television debut as she performed on BET Network's 106 & Park. The teen has headlined in Boston, MA for Touch 106 FM, “Courtney B.” for P.E.A.C.E. Night, and Connecticut’s “March for Education” where she successfully helped raise enough money to sponsor several buses of well deserved students to Washington, DC to experience the nations capital for their 1st time.

Ja’Quay has just released her lastest single called “Under My Skin”. It’s available on all online stores. You can stay connected with her on Twitter and IG, both are @jaquaymusic. She is currently on her radio promotional tour so look out...you may see her soon. L.M.G. Baby!!!!
