BandAlternativeSinger/Songwriter

My music would be best described as acoustic folk rock. The melodies are pop influenced, but the lyrics are thoughtful and worth paying attention to. I don't just sing about partying, dancing, or love. I sing about love AND lust, loss, living in the city, often in a literary style.

Sinking Suspicion

Written By: Jared Glenn

standing on the dock my bags thrown over my shoulder,
heavy with fear and doubt.
don't cry when i say goodbye
cause the sea will be spraying its bitter tears in the breeze.
walking up the gangplank the wind gets colder,
and the crucified sails come back to life.
if everyone wants me to stay why do i have to leave.

a feather can only float with the wind,
like the sea can't refuse a river.
i wish i hadn't forced the issue the far but i had to see just how far it'd let me go.
i hear a woman's voice and it makes me shiver,
and drop the anchor from my heart.
and it's dragging me into the waters below.

and then i see her,
lying on the rocks in the distance.
she says, 'i know
you've got that sinking suspicion
about dry land. i understand'.

so we turned and sailed headlong into the land,
enraptured by her siren song.
fate had dealt us our final card.
and the mermaid swam through my ship, nestled in the seabed sand.
at this rate it won't be long
before her octopus's garden looks like a graveyard.

and then i see her
lying on the rocks in the distance.
she says, 'i know
you've got that sinking suspicion
about dry land'.
