Biography

As a songwriter, Jared Young combines his ear for fresh melodies with a poet’s hand for inventive lyric writing. His live shows are fun and energetic, and his genuine emotional involvement in his performances draws his listeners into the experience with him. Young’s heartland songs, packed with country rock hooks and American sentiments, are delivered with enthusiasm and sincerity.

After spending three years songwriting in Nashville, Jared now lives in Los Angeles and has garnered a steady following through live shows and the internet. Jared’s highlights from recent performances include a 12-date tour in the UK with appearances in London, Newcastle, Sunderland, Tyne, as well as Amity Fletcher’s famous “Big Secret” night and the “CORE Industry Showcase” in the heart of Leicester Square.

In North America, Jared’s Montreal fan club prepared the setlist for a great show at “The Vault” when Jared toured Quebec, and big crowds came out for the Harper County 4th of July Festival in Harper, Kansas and the Riverwalk Ampitheater show in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jared also performed at the Temecula Valley Song and Film Festival, and the “First Friday’s Festival” in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As Jared's popularity grows, so does his fan base. Jared Young Street Teams have been formed in over seven US states and two cities in Quebec, CA (Montreal and Jonquierre).

Jared's music can be heard in a number of independent films including Life, Death, and Mini- Golf; Gone But Not Forgotten; and Speed Trap. Most recently, Jared's song, "Push" was placed in Four Winds Pictures' short feature, Animus Road.

Brian Lush, of RockWired.com says, "[Young's new album is] is a gritty collection of earnest and heartfelt rockers. Yes, Young is a troubadour with his heart on his sleeve and a wide yet modest grin."

CD Baby raves, “Welcome back, middle America, you have a new champion. Jared Young takes acoustic rock to a new level with his Stickman Music debut So Many Miles. For everyone that misses the honesty and hooks of Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen - listen up.”

Lyrics

Painted Horses

Written By: Jared Young

Ain’t no sense in misbehaving
When they can’t put a price on your soul
When all the bad boys have sold themselves to Hollywood
I just want to stay home

chorus
She wants to paint horses
While I just want to draw swords
She wants to run on the beach tonight
But I just want to stay home

Ain’t no sense in disbelieving
When you feel it in your heart so desperately
Forty thousand waves upon the crystal sea
But you’re still breaking into me

Chorus

Bridge
Try to scream
but they hold you down
Break the silence of this town
Will you wait for me
My god, my darling
Will you wait for me

She Came Down

Written By: Jared Young

She came down
Taste of America in her mouth
Waiting on the dreams
That will never die
Bettin’ on a horse that will never tire

She came down
Singing all the songs of innocence
Waiting on her dreams
That won’t prevent
Scrounging all her cash
To pay the rent

Spin your wheels of sorrow
Spin your wheels of shame
Cause they can call your name
But never take the blame

Chorus
And you watch as it goes down
Silently across this town
Like the ghosts of a thousand dreams
That haunt you in your sleep
She’s standing on the outside
She’s trying to find her place there on the inside
She won’t find what can’t be found
She came down …

She came down
Taste of America on her lips
Sick and tired of having
To use her hips
Waiting on the world
To make some sense
She came down
Singing all the songs of betrayal
Teaching all the boys about denial
Lighting up a match to start a fire

Spin your wheels of sorrow
Spin your wheels of shame
Cause they can call your name
But never take the blame

Chorus

Time is wasting,
But you’re not wasting mine
Pull the car up slowly baby
And kill the lights
Take my head into your hands
And bless me with you voice
Tell me all the beautiful lies
That I need to get me off
Well you turn me on …

Chorus

Southern Time

Written By: Jared Young / Bruce Lawrence / Debra Drucker

You know I live on Southern time
Couldn’t hurry baby if I tried
Got no need for big city lights
The moon and stars suit me just fine
Makin’ love that lasts all night
Or stretching out a day when the catfish bite
Some things are worth waiting for baby trust me

Just set your course for the Mason Dixon line
Where the Gulf winds blow
Feel yourself beginning to unwind
Just let your troubles go
You gotta let them go …

You know I live on Southern time
Warm days even hotter nights
We take our time to get things right
The tea is sweet but the whiskey bites
Swaying on a front porch swing
Stealing my kisses from a pretty little thing
Watch the fireflies dance in the pale moonlight

Down here we tend to stop and say hello
And “How are you?” means we really want to know
Cause where you’re rushing to ain’t going anywhere
Past is past, tomorrow still ain’t here
No it still ain’t here …

Southern time, magnolias bloom
Skinny dipping girls in a big pontoon
Southern Time baby that’s the life aww yeah
Shores of Alabama, Mississippi mud
Shot of Jack Daniels running thru your blood
Southern Time where we’re living right awww yeah

Sometimes when I’m movin slow
It makes her crazy yes I know
But just you wait until the sun sinks low

She knows I’ll walk the line
And do what it takes to make her mine
Then I’ll take my sweet Southern time

Set your course for the Mason Dixon line
Where the Gulf winds blow
Feel yourself beginning to unwind
Just let your troubles go
Gotta let them go …

Skinny dipping girls in a big pontoon
Southern Time babyu that’s the life aww yeah
Shores of Alabama, Mississippi mud
Shot of Jack Daniels running thru your blood
Southern Time where we’re living right awww yeah

Where Do Trucks Go When They Die?

Written By: Jared Young / Bruce Lawrence / Debra Drucker

Where Do Trucks Go When They Die
..
1st verse
Don’t know boutchu, but man I sure love my truck
Had her since I was sixteen - but just ran outta luck
Rolled into town she gave a shudder and a shake
It’s one tragic loss – more than I can take

Suddenly all these memories flooded my head
My son took my hand and asked Daddy is she dead?
I nodded yes, he said “Then I got a question …
Will grandpa look after her – when she gets up to heaven?”
Good question son …!

CHORUS
Where do trucks go when they die?
You think that god’s got a big parking lot in the sky?
Where do trucks go when they die?
Can’t wait to take her muddin’ on the other side
Where do trucks go when they die?
You think the clouds up in heaven need a 4-wheel drive?
Where do trucks go when they die?
I better start living right so I can take her for one more ride …

2nd Verse
Son if these seats could talk
there’d be buckets full of memories
Cruising Main Street, picking fights with my enemies
Nervous first kisses from the homecoming queen
for my first prom this truck was my limousine
Hole in the seat from my first cigarette
Done some things in the bed I’ll never forget
She’s seen 3 bloodhounds and now a son of my own
We’re riding shotgun no more…
my truck she’s been called home

CHORUS

Bridge
Church on Sunday, pass the plate we’re almost done
Preacher he asks if he could pray for anyone
Mary’s worried bout her son, Carl’s praying for his dad
Then much to my wife’s dismay, I shot up my hand
Now preacher you know that I’ve been a saint -
….. even if those ladies on my mudflaps ain’t!
And I understand these folks are down on their luck
But can we please say a prayer - for my old truck!!”

(can I get an amen?!)

CHORUS
