The music of Jarek is composed of many stylistic influences and explores vast sonic avenues. It is dark and intense yet features constant dynamic and textual transitions from light to grey and everything in between. Sonically and rhythmically encapsulating, Jarek's music has proved inspiring to those who have heard the music or witnessed a live performance.
Jarek consists of Jared Brentnall on acoustic guitar, kick drum, and samples; Floyd Brentnall on bass; Peter Clancy on electric guitar; Bevan May on keys, clarinet & melodian; Brett Cusack on electric / midi guitar; and Damien Bennett on trumpet, keys and tabla.
The music is mainly instrumental with the exception of some vocal samples allowing the group to colour and shade the music with sound fx, loops, and ambient samples. The Jarek live experience is as much about the music as it is about the visual performance with the use of ambient lighting, smoke, and video projections that accompany the music.
Jarek's live shows are a thought provoking, captivating and hypnotic experience.

A cinematic instrumental piece by local band Jarek, which meanders at an unhurried pace through twinkling fields of glockenspiel then arcs up in a very seventies, very prog-sounding sprawl of retro sci-fi guitar. Aside from the seemingly dirty title, there are plenty of things to like about Massive Portise – the atmosphere; the warm, organic feel – but it would sit comfortably next to a Vangelis or Tubular Bells record, and that makes me plain - BEAT MAGAZINE

Five members strong, Jarek manage to produce some extremely chunky sounds throwing ambient and textural samples, clarinet, melodeon, glockenspiel, and tabla into the mix atop of acoustic and electric guitars, bass, keys, kick drum and percussion.
At times dark and intense and then surprisingly uplifting, Jarek's focus is on the spaces between the sounds, ensuring each note, chord and beat gets plenty of breath and life. The result is a textural blend of instrumentals that you feel like you could almost reach out and touch.
In the live environment, Jarek incorporate surreal and artistic video projections taken from various locations from around Australia, Europe and India utilising simple yet effective manipulation to accompany the thought provoking music. Combined with ambient smoke and lighting Jarek ignite all the senses and will take you away to another place.
Both earthy and otherworldly, Jarek will draw you in and have you mesmerised and tapping your toes before you can say tree-ey is a word!
