"Their sound is a blend of a range of influences-- rock, grunge, post-punk, classic rock, and more; while being known for their high-energy live performances" -axsTV - AXS
“Held together by a thudding percussive heart, their music is familiar but refreshingly lacking in pretension and any sort of rhythmic imitation.”
“One of the best American rock groups working in New York. The guitars shimmer and chug along besides melodies that'll have you singing along before the band gets to the second chorus." - Nooga
"Jarflower take the best of what came out years ago and reinvents the music with their own 21st century spin, making for an unforgettable listening experience." - Diffuser.fm
Alt-rock four-piece Jarflower are playing The Rock Shop in Brooklyn on Saturday, Jan. 3. The New York City natives will be celebrating the early-2015 release of their new album, Contrast, and have brought a myriad of influences to the table, including Foo Fighters, Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, and The Gaslight Anthem. With a self-titled EP under their belts, an emo twang to their vocals, and contagiously catchy songs, Jarflower is a band you have to see for yourself. - The Aquarian

Bio
Jarflower started in 2011 when Matt & Steve tried to bike as far east across Long Island as possible. Amid storms, slick roads, and hazardous bike maneuvers, they only made it to exit 65 before they both thought their legs would bleed, but what was bleeding for sure was the passion to put themselves out there, and start a band. If they could make it through a semi-tropical storm on borrowed bikes, they could probably take a stab at starting a band.
To join them, they enlisted their college friend Rob, who loved rock music & computers & Florida, and Jake, from the neighborhood, who also loved rock music (maybe computers, not sure about Florida).
Carved from 90s rock, dangerous riffing, and serious pop sensibility, Jarflower destroys stages with tight rock n’ roll tunes and anthems that would bring your first pet back to life (or so they’ve heard). Matt’s powerful melodies and rhythm guitar, Steve’s earth-shaking rhythms, Rob’s infectious bass grooves, and Jake’s unique Led Zeppelin meets Goo Goo Dolls axe-playing complements their truly rad and original sound.
They have opened for hit-makers like Hellogoodbye & Dishwalla, and have had their music featured in local compilations.
With their upcoming "Contrast" EP, the boys in Jarflower have taken their songwriting to new sonic heights, including dirtier and catchier riffs, rhythms and grooves that make you break out the moves, and melodies that would make Beethoven cry.
This is Jarflower, and they are pleased to meet you, too.
