Biography

Reviews

"Incredible!"......Erica Tompkins, Associate Director of Writer-Publisher Relations, BMI New York, on reviewing "Whispers of Love"

"Whispers Of Love is a song that rings with both accessibility and credibility. Finally, an independent artist that can stand up alongside the majors. In his short time on our playlist, Jase is already beating established hits by the likes of Jewel, Matchbox Twenty and John Mayer."....Andrew Reich, Program Director, V-MIX Adult Hits Internet Radio (www.virtualwrld.com)

Jase …"befits the comparison to a world-class songwriter"... The 8 X 10 Club, Baltimore, MD Craig B. Hopwood

"Jase writes very cool songs and wraps them in a nice soulful voice and groove!"....Gail Swanson, DJ, Manao Radio 91.5 FM, Maui, Hawaii

Since 1998, Jase has performed on the Baltimore circuit in such venues as The Vault, the 8 x 10 Club, Paloma's, The Bottom Floor Concert Series, and in Baltimore’s Fell’s Point area. In 2002, Jase connected with artist and producer Brad Allen to record a 4-song EP. Allen, (who has performed and recorded with the likes of Scott Garrett of the Cult and Oteil Burbridge of the Allman Brothers) says, “Jase is an incredible singer and songwriter, probably one of the most convincing raw talents I’ve ever seen!”

Jase decided to post early, unfinished versions of his songs on both MP3.com and Garageband.com for local fans, and they quickly became favorites of internet listeners, moving to Garageband’s Pop Top 10 for over 6 weeks and MP3.com’s Top 40 in the world-wide Adult Alternative charts.

Jase’s interesting and dramatic blend of music styles comes from a life of living on the road as a kid with a father whose character could have come straight from a Jack Kerouac novel! Constantly exposed to different people, music, and sometimes strange and adverse conditions, Jase traveled frequently as a child, moving up and down the Eastern seaboard from Maryland to the Florida Keys while his father searched for steady employment.

Jase’s father was a fisherman, painter, and general “wildman” that had a voracious appetite for music and made no bones about sharing it with his son. Wild and wooly characters abound along with a crazy mix of concerts, bluegrass festivals, and late night parties spent with hippies, South FL Cuban immigrants, and rock bands thrown in to boot! At age 11, while waiting for his father to fix the broken down van outside in the sweltering heat, Jase very graciously played harmonica for patrons in a roadside bar during Florida’s notorious Daytona Bike Week, earning his first $25 dollars in tips!!

Looking to expand his audience and having finished a 4-song EP, Jase has assembled a backing band and is planning a regional tour in 2003.*

The Wings of the Phantom

Written By: Jase

As the day turns to night
I can feel it follow me
It’s as gray as the gloom
A fog that rolls in from the sea
And though I might run I’ve no chance to hide myself
And vanquish myself of this impossibility

See the wings of the phantom spread at night
He’s everywhere
I think I see the battle coming in sight
But I’m already there
Or maybe I should stand up and fight
If I could only care

Once, when I was a boy
And I could see through life with rose-colored glasses on
But as time catches up with me I’ve nowhere left to go
I’m dealt the hand of fate that stays until forever sleep

See the wings of the phantom spread at night
He’s everywhere
I think I see the battle coming in sight
But I’m already there
Or maybe I should stand up and fight
If I could only care

As the hollow of darkness stands on the truth
I see it turn around and ask me if I feel blue
Cause the way it comes around is out of the gloom
So I better hurry up or else I will lose
Now the shadow sent his hounds to feast on my soul
Now look out boy cause he’s got yours too……………..

Whispers of Love

Written By: Jase

When you are near
And I can feel you breathe
Whispers of love
And take away my fears

When nighttime is here
And we stroll the beach
Never you’re out of reach
And the stars are bright
With their twinkling light
I look through your eyes to see

And I couldn’t find my way home
Til’ you showed me the way
And I was locked in for such a long time
To me you brought the key…………

When you are near
And I can feel you breathe
Whispers of love
And take away my fears

And I couldn’t find my way home
Til’ you showed me the way yeah yeah
And I was locked in for such a long time
To me you brought the key…………

A Matter of Time

Written By: Jase

So how you been now?
It’s been so long since I seen you and
I wonder at your life
Does your new man take care of you?

Does he notice?
Your smile like a thousand suns
So here I am now
I’m sittin around on this sofa and
I’ll bet you’ll never know
My love will never rescind

Cause it’s a matter of time
Before I get out of line
Before I make it straight
Before I talk about it
Everyone knows though they may not show
That you get to feel the love
While I sit right bye

So how you been now?
It’s been so long since I seen you and
I wonder at your life
Does your new man take care of you?

Does he notice?
Your smile like a thousand suns
So here I am now
I’m sittin around on this sofa and
I’ll bet you’ll never know
My love will never rescind

Cause it’s a matter of time
Before I get out of line
Before I make it straight
Before I talk about it
Everybody knows though they may not show
That you get to feel the love
While I sit right bye
I’ll sit bye…..
I’ll sit bye….yeah…
