Bio
Rhythmic dark overlays dipped in hypnotic tones: crawl back into the underground and watch them explode. Let the wreckage fall where it will. Firmly planted in the bossom of Montreal, The Jason Dagg Band's roots trace from ice to pandemonium, from void to orgasmic explosion.
The band's main singer/song-writer, Jason, has been writing music since he can remember. His father, John, was a prominent musician who influenced him in the ways of classical and jazz. But, Jason finally found rock and roll and his influences shifted to the psychedelic rock of the late sixties.
Once Jason formed his first band in Timmins he continued to write, grow, and subsequently send them through many iterations and members. Making the decision to move away from Timmins is inspired by the idea that, for Jason, Timmins was a place of finite possibilities for a musician. And anyone determined to play music has to make the jump to a bigger and more culturally dynamic city. Naturally Montreal is a great decision.
The Jason Dagg band has now spent over three years playing various gigs around Montreal in its current iteration. Living and playing in Montreal is as interesting as ever for the band because of the recent attention the city has received from the music industry. The Jason Dagg Band believes that they are a working rock band at heart and will continue to play and write the music they believe in no matter what the city may bring. Like any city, Montreal shifts and changes year to year and the band shape their identity around these changes. The Jason Dagg Band tries to write great music and adhere to the idea that music is transcendental, and that they are not riding the ephemerality of a fad.
The Band continues to write music and play in and around Montreal. Having recently finished their first EP, they hope to continue to record as much as possible.
