If Nebraska is your favorite Bruce Springteen album, then Nashville's Jason Feller is definitely for you. His acoustic songs are stripped of anything non-essential.

"Listen! Nashville"

July 15th, 2007

Nashville-based singer/songwriter Jason Feller officially released his debut CD Goodnight Moon on Circle Back Music 's label July 15th. Sunday night's show served as both a CD release for Feller and an official launch party for the new Circle Back Music.

Feller's music is pure coffee shop Americana—the kind of music that, no doubt, contributed significantly to a certain huge coffee company's success—back in the day. Feller's voice is warm and strong, soothing and soulful. His vocals are very reminiscent of Jakob Dylan, only less pop and more coffee. He transports you back in time to your favorite cold-day memory, something like Boone, North Carolina during the third week of October. The songs are well-written, thoughtful, old-soul reflections on life that will (thankfully) never land on Grey's Anatomy but rather, the closing credits to a sleeper indie film about loss, tragedy, and redemption.
Feller performs mostly by himself with only his acoustic guitar.

However, his record was produced by Nashville's Cason Cooley and it's not unusual to see Cooley or a few other stellar Nashville players (e.g. Andrew Osenga) joining him on stage. Feller is a gifted, young singer/songwriter and, with the recently added support of Circle Back Music, we should anticipate hearing more good things in the future from this outstanding newcomer. But for now, be sure to catch him live on his upcoming tour
which is set to begin on July 20th.

Bio

Jason Feller's mother loved to listen to the radio and sing along, so it's natural that her son would pick up the habit, too. There was that particular mid-80's summer when the ride home from weekly swimming lessons introduced him to Bill Joel, Mister Mister, and Huey Lewis and the News. Then came middle and high school band-nerd status, but when most teens turn in their rock star aspirations to become frat boys or even mill workers, Jason started writing songs.

While Jason's past includes fronting a rock band, the story ends well: those 80's pop influences gave way to Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon, and Marc Cohn, and his songs began to garner the attention of serious songwriting aficionados as well as the acoustic coffeehouse scene. “I don't remember if it was Tolkien or C.S. Lewis that said he writes the stories he wished he'd heard as a kid. I sort of adopted that philosophy.” He moved to Nashville in 2003 and has found

Music lovers longing for a dreamy acoustic-rock revival won't be disappointed with Feller's debut solo album, Goodnight, Moon. Vocally, Jason is a smoother, sweeter version of Bruce Springsteen or Jakob Dylan (he has a bit of that sexy, raspy thing going on). Lyrically, he's a fantastic storyteller following in the footsteps of Springsteen and the other Dylan. With songs like “Carolina, Love Will Find You”, Feller finds that perfect, achy-tender spot, and you just may want to fall in love.
