Bio
Jason Hurta is a New Braunfels, TX based singer/songwriter. Hurta grew up in Edna, TX and has always had a passion for music. The first song he ever sang was Hank Williams' There's A Tear In My Beer at the age of 5 as he stood in the middle of his parent's bed. That love for singing carried over as he began to sing in the little church his family were members of.
As Hurta grew up, he began to focus more and more on sports than music. He became an accomplished baseball player, earning a 4 year scholarship to Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. Two years into playing baseball at Sam Houston, Hurta realized he wouldn't make a living playing the sport so he focused on earning his degree. He earned a bachelors of business administration degree in finance.
Music continued to take a back seat to life until Jason and his family moved to New Braunfels in 2006. The ability to play and sing music in a town that embraced the craft so much intriqued him. In February 2013, Jason auditioned for a local singing contest called Brauntex Has Talent. He was chosen as one of the 6 finalists. Although he didn't win, it continued to spark a music fire that wouldn't die down.
His most recent music adventure was making it to the second round of American Country Star based in Nashville. Out of 4,000 entries, Hurta was chosen as one of the top 200. He performed 4 songs at the Silver Dollar Saloon and enjoyed every second of it.
Jason has been compiling his thoughts on paper for several years but everything has started to come together into songs once he set his heart to songwriting. Hurta writes anything from country ballads to southern country rock to bluesy country and even songs that poke fun at modern day society. One thing you can be sure of is that Jason will always write what's in his heart and about what he loves. His songs may make you cry, laugh or just be proud to be an American.
Currently, Jason is, no doubt, living the dream in New Braunfels, TX with his wife, Traci and 3 kiddos, Cole, Makenzie and Madison. He enjoys singing with his band, Jason Hurta & The Reformed, jogging (because it allows him to check out from reality for about 45 minutes) and swimming with his family in the beautiful spring fed waters of the Comal River.
