Lyrics

Pray

Written By: Jason Jaros

Well I been gone, I been gone so long
My sweet girl, she forgot my name
I never should have left this place of my birth
I'm all alone and going insane

Just the other day I got bit by a big old dog
And he ripped the back right out my drawers
I stumbled and I tripped and I fell to the ground
Right outside those little church doors

They would not let me in, said I was too full of sin
So I grinned as I lit my cigarette
It started to rain so I hitched on a train
Take me somewhere that I ain't been yet

And the red sky at night
They say's a rambler's delight
Won't you pray, pray, pray
Pray for me
Won't you pray, pray, pray
Pray for me

Riding on a train I met a man with a cane
He was old and grey, only had one eye
He cracked a crooked smile and said ride for a while
We'll reach the promised land by-and-by

It was dark as night and the only light
came from a candle in the middle of the row
It flickered and it flashed off that man's evil eye
Then I knew this train was bound for doom

There was tons of steel and the devil at the wheel
Well I knew that there was no way out of this one
I wander in death as I wandered in life
My forsaken hand will never see the sun

And the red sky at night
They say's a rambler's delight
Won't you pray, pray, pray
Pray for me
Won't you pray, pray, pray
Pray for me

I woke in the rain full of heartache and pain
That nightmare still fresh in my mind
I took off my hat and I got down on my knees
and I prayed for me
Yes I prayed, prayed, prayed
Prayed for me
