"On Front Page of a Houston Area Paper - "Towering Texan Is Star Bound""

Raised in Sugar Land and a graduate of Hightower High School, songwriter
and country music performer Jason Marbach is living his dream.

The 22-year-old Texan recorded his first CD last year and has been getting
spins on stations as far away as Australia, Europe, Japan and South
America. This year, he was nominated as a "Rising Star" by the Texas Music
Awards and "Songwriter of the Year" by the Payne County Line, an artist
promotions organization in Oklahoma. Over the past two to three months he
has opened for Charlie Robison and Shake Russell.

Marbach's smooth, strong voice resonates throughout his 6-foot 7-inch
frame. His versatile performances comprise all forms of country/Americana,
including swing, blues and rock. He loves to play a wide array of music
from such artists as Chris Knight, Travis Tritt, George Strait, Willie
Nelson, Waylon Jennings and even Elvis Presley.

Born in New Braunfels and of German/Irish descent, Marbach has loved music
as long as he can remember. "My parents tell me that I danced on all fours
before I could walk or talk ... so, I suppose I've been into good music
forever," he said. He was in bands all through middle and high school and
learned to read music classically, but didn't start playing the guitar
until he was 16.

He knew he wanted to pursue a career in music when he was 18 and, with the
support of his family, began to pursue music professionally while a
freshman at the University of Texas at San Antonio. "My parents have always
encouraged me to find work that I enjoy and have been instrumental in every
aspect of my development, both as a man and as a musician," he said.

Marbach's earliest shows were at clubs in and around San Antonio and New
Braunfels, including "open mic" nights at Tavern In The Gruene.

Some of the greatest advice he has received came from his high school band
director, Rod Soto, who encouraged him to give his musical career
everything he had and most importantly to remember to connect with
listeners during his performances by having a good time.

On the appeal of country music, Marbach said, "It's music I can relate to.
I love the honesty and the storytelling that country singers and
songwriters bring to music.

"But I also love the way the music is arranged, the instrumentation. I
think my fans enjoy these things as well."

He wrapped up recording his first CD, entitled "She Drove," late last year.

Though he finds it hard to choose a favorite country song, Marbach settled
on "Folsom Prison Blues" by Johnny Cash, the first song he sang onstage in
front of people at the Kingsbury Opry at the age of 16.

Though most of his shows have been in Houston and the San Antonio/New
Braunfels area, Marbach wants to broaden his performances both north and
south this year.

He anticipates performing at a number of benefits, as he did in 2005. “I
love playing for benefits of all types, since there's a fan base there that
I otherwise might not ever reach - and it gives me a chance to give my
music as a gift to folks that really could use a lift."

He would also like to record with some of the friends he has made this
year, like Big John Mills and Brennen Leigh, both recent TMA winners.

His advice to others: "Find out what you want to do and go for it,
improving it where you can and connecting with others every chance you get.
And don't assume that everyone will love your stuff - some will and some
won't."

Of his career, Marbach said, "It has been a true roller coaster - sometimes
with more gigs than you can get to on any amount of sleep and other times
going a week or more between performances.

"It's definitely a ride and a half and I wouldn't change a thing about it.
I relish the highs and the lows because they make me appreciate the times
in the middle."

Marbach describes his passion for music simply: "I live to write songs and
I write songs to live."
