Biography

Jason Martin has been drawn to music and the stories that go with it his whole life. Playing in school bands as a child was the beginning. He has been a member of three different bands in the St. Louis area since moving here in 2001, covering music from pop, rock, blues, and funk. Jason is currently in an R&B/Rock/Funk band called Big Dirty. He also performs frequently as a solo acoustic act doing original songs and some cover tunes. Always writing and composing music, Jason is ready to perform wherever possible just to have a good time with others who appreciate live music. Regardless of the subject of his songs, there is almost always an infectious percussive rhythm that keeps the listener interested. His original music pays equal homage to rock, folk, pop, funk, bossa nova, country, blues, and jazz. Keeping an open mind and no limitations is the key to Jason's constant curiosity.

Lyrics

Rugged Head

Written By: Jason Martin

The last time that I saw you, you were hanging by a thread
Trying to memorize all you wish that you had said
Try quiet baby, try to let me die
I was always so satisfied

Oh bravest ladies and men of lava now of rock,
Speak of your past that you cast and the old life that you mock,
Boy give it a chance pull up your pants and shave your rugged head
Everybody knows your legend, and they gossip your good as dead

Gaining strength while getting old, with the words to bring you to your knees
Travieso tramp hanging at the top of trees
Try quiet baby, try to let me die
I was always so satisfied

Oh bravest ladies and men of lava now of rock,
Speak of your past that you cast and the old life that you mock,
Boy give it a chance pull up your pants and shave your rugged head
Everybody knows your legend, and they gossip your good as dead

Saw you on the bus, an ornament thirsty man
Your dirty smile content, it was the life that you demand
Try quiet baby, try to let me die
I will cut you until your dry

Oh bravest ladies and men of lava now of rock,
Speak of your past that you cast and the old life that you mock,
Boy give it a chance pull up your pants and shave your rugged head
Everybody knows your legend, and they gossip your good as dead
