Jason Niosi
A Thousand Tragic Girls

Although Jason Niosi’s A Thousand Tragic Girls is grounded somewhere between the thoughtful roots-rock of Bruce Springsteen and the wide-eyed folk-pop of Mason Jennings, the Milwaukee musician has a more subversively sexual side than either of those songwriters. He drops F-bombs like he’s hosting an HBO stand-up special on “Pattern,” examines Michael Jackson’s alleged pedophilia on “Neverland Ranch,” and details enough kinks and fetishes to make R. Kelly blush on “Prick,” then he has the audacity to pine for a time when women were less loose on the record’s penultimate track, “1950s.” Sure, he contradicts himself, but Niosi sings these lighthearted songs with a genuine smile, making it impossible not to find him charming.

Bio

Jason Niosi grew up on New York's Long Island and brings his experiences and sarcastic humor to light through his music. A singer-songwriter with a genuine love of folk music and the art of storytelling, Niosi sings about what others would rather ignore. "It's reality music, people," Niosi quips with a laugh.

Influences include Todd Snider, Dan Bern, Steve Poltz and Jill Sobule...

Jason is continuing to write and play music, focusing on his experiences as a corporate slave, in relationships and his first time to Australia. Songs like “Paid to be Lazy,” “Map of Tassie,” “Erased (Stolen Christmas)” and “7/10 Split” recapture moments of his life and are currently being recorded for his second full-length album tilted "Humor Me" due out in 2008.
