Easily approachable look and sound, with a similar vibe to that of John Mayer, Sheryl Crow, and The Eagles. Terrific acoustic or with a full band. Recent performances at Rusty's in Santa Monica, USC, UCLA, Key Club-Sunset Strip, UC-Berkeley, UC-Santa Barbara and Cal State Univ-Fullerton.

Biography

When Jason Reid first saw Tom Petty in concert, he was 12 years old and thought, ‘now THAT looks fun!’ He loved reading his stories out loud for class and loved playing guitar. But the two didn’t come together until Jason took a songwriting class in 2008, and he set out to write the music and lyrics for his 2009 self-produced debut album, “Dancing Shadows”. A native Californian, Jason graduated from UCLA in 1995 with a degree in business economics, and currently lives in Los Angeles.

Light This Dark

Written By: Jason Reid

LIGHT THIS DARK

They say we’re good for each other
Won’t find no argument here
People together should help one another
To face their fear

And I’d come to find you
If you would just light this dark for me
I’m right behind you
When I get close you don’t want me to see

Where you’ve been hiding
What you’ve been through
I wish you would tell me what you feel
I know that you have been wounded before
I want to help you to heal

We take a walk in the evening
When you get cold I hold you near
We mostly get along but when there’s something wrong
You disappear

But I’d come to find you
If you would just light this dark for me
I’m right behind you
When I get close you don’t want me to be

I’m like a blind man standing alone
Lost in this dark where distance is grown
Illuminate your soul for me so I can see what’s true
If you’d light this dark for me I’d find my way home to you

I’d come to find you
If you would just light this dark for me
I’m right behind you
When I get close you don’t want me to see

Where you’ve been hiding
What you’ve been through
I wish you would share your dreams with me
I watch you carry the weight of the past
I want to help set you free

And I’d come to find you
If you would just light this dark for me
I’ll be beside you
We’ll be alright you and me
We’ll be alright you and me
We’ll be alright you and me

It's Over

Written By: Jason Reid

IT’S OVER

I don’t think I can do this anymore
Doesn’t take you 30 seconds when I walk through the door
If I forget to say please
You look at me like I was a contagious disease

And now it’s over
Over for good
Thank God it’s over
I’m gonna pack up get out like my friends say I should

I’m movin’ on now
Don’t really care about the why or the how
I’ve waited far too long to sing this song and let you know it’s over
Over for good
Thank God it’s over

I don’t think I want to do this again.
Treatin’ me like I was just the friend of a friend
Not too hot. You want it mild
Lookin’ somethin’ like a man but honey you’re just a child

Now it’s over
Over and done
It’s truly over
Friends say have fun with him but he ain’t the one

I’m movin’ on now
Won’t see me cry about the why or the how
I’ve waited far too long to sing this song and tell you that it’s over
Over and done
It’s truly over

Get me the hell out of here
Before I turn and leave let me make myself clear
Can’t believe you’re still talkin’
I’m taking the car so enjoy your walkin’

I’m movin’ on now
Don’ t want to fight about the why and the how
I’ve waited far too long to sing this song and prove to you

That it’s over / thank God it’s over
This is the end / let’s not pretend
It’s truly over / high time it’s over
And it’s over till we wanna start over again.

Because it’s over / it’s finally over
This is the end / let’s not pretend
I’m kinda thinkin’ it’s over / I’ve decided it’s over
And it’s over till we wanna start over again.

Tease Me

Written By: Jason Reid

TEASE ME

Caught up to her and said ‘excuse me miss
But I saw you look my way’
Batted her lashes blew me a kiss
Then she giggled as she walked away

She’s just teasing me
That’s what a girl likes to do to a boy
She’s just teasing me
I’m just an insignificant one of her toys

I picked her up took her to the dance
You shoulda seen the skirt on this girl
She showed me London she showed me France
But there’s a lot more to this world

She’s just teasing me
That’s what a girl likes to do to a boy
She’s just teasing me
I’m just an insignificant one of her toys

Am I delirious
Did I just see what I think I saw
She can’t be serious
Violatin’ way more than some dumb law

Bikini top lickin’ an ice cream
Little miss lovin’ the sunshine
She’ll get a chill flashin’ them high beams
But all I get to twiddle are these two thumbs o’ mine

She’s just teasing me
That’s what a girl likes to do to a boy
She’s just teasing me
I’m just an insignificant one of her toys

Tease me! Tease me!
All you want to do is go on teasin’ me
Go on tease someone else
Tease me! Tease me!
Think of all the ways you could be pleasin’ me
I shouldn’t have to tease myself

Scar

SCAR

“And wrath has left its scar -- that fire of hell
Has left its frightful scar upon my soul.” -- William Cullen Bryant, 1794 -1878

Where’d you go
And how the hell was I supposed to know
One fine day the next a disaster

Suddenly
You don’t recognize that part of me
Takes it slow no need to go faster

I would help her if I could
Realize the common good
But I’d be misunderstood
Cause she’s got this scar

I can see
It’s obvious the way that you blame me
For the wounds an old love inflicted

I can find
Conversations running through my mind
Looking back I should have predicted

I would help her if I could
Realize the common good
But I’d be misunderstood
Cause she’s got this scar

Someone’s taken over you
You’re not the girl I thought I knew
I still hope she isn’t you
Might as well be wishing on a star

“True Love burns the brightest,
But the brightest flames leave the deepest scars” – author unknown

Look around
Wonder when your life turned upside down
All your world went right out the door

Private lie
The reason you won’t look me in the eye
Something you might want to explore

I would help her if I could
Lend the hand a strong man should
But I wasn’t any good
Cause she’s got this scar
She’s got this scar

Blueberry Eyes

Written By: Jason Reid

Blueberry Eyes

Pretty young girl with the blueberry eyes
Can’t understand why they tease and tell lies
And she sees things a girl shouldn’t see

Momma died early ghost for a dad
Did what she could with what little she had
And inside she is dying to be

Somewhere where there is a boy who discovers the life in her heart
Gentle with her mind and body and honest with her from the start

Pretty young girl with the blueberry eyes
Might make the finals but won’t win the prize
Not this time and never before

Ribbons don’t matter as long as you try
Moms tell their daughters, ‘you hold your head high’
But it time she won’t try anymore

She sparkles like sunlight on water would dance at the chance to be free
Heaven will always be sad for this girl and nobody can see

She goes it alone through all the strife
Is there any hope for this girl
Someone to care for her
Hold her and share with her
Love her the rest of her life

Gotta be honest it’s no surprise
When she looks right through him doesn’t say ‘hi’
It’s not that she means to, she doesn’t know why
She’s a pretty young girl with blueberry eyes
