Dames, Trains, and Tall Texas Tales 2010

Feeling a bit camera shy

Native Texan singer/songwriter Jason Sain and his rocking string band, the Foolhearted, are based in Branson, MO. Their debut album, 'Dames, Trains, and Tall Texas Tales', blends both the modern and traditional as it drives through songs about lying and cheating, drinking and sinning, and all the terrible things that once made country music wonderful. They almost sound as if ol' Hank got together with Bob Wills and Bill Monroe for some bar-b-que and a lazy back porch pickin' session.

In addition to guitarist/harmonica/vocalist Sain, the Foolhearted is made up of Heavy T on mandolin, Ryan Comer on bass fiddle, Kris Snow on dobro, and Colter Starrett on guitjo. A family as much as a band, the members' ties run deep. Sain and Heavy T have been performing together in various bands since their teenage years. Comer and Sain have been friends since attending the same high school in Texas. Snow's beautiful little girls all call the boys Uncle, and his wife was roommate to Sain and Heavy T for many years. Young Colter is everyone's little brother, picked on but loved all the same.

Jason Sain and the Foolhearted have performed all over the four state area of Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Their sound is both of the present and harkens back to yesteryear, meshing the Western swing of the Texas panhandle, and the gospel and bluegrass of the band's Ozark Mountain home. What emerges from the mix keeps folks on the dance floor and has gathered rave reviews for the music's originality, style, and energy. Every Jason Sain and the Foolhearted experience is memorable, while each is different from the last
