The track I'm submitting is the second coming of Sinatra's 1950's concept albums. In other words, alone at the bar, remembering.

Lyrics

Love Laughed Last

Written By: Jason Saltiel

I sip and stare into the glass, remembrin’
the place where it all began

the people loud the music soft the feeling
that the night was an offerred hand

then you passed into view for a moment
and then the moment passed
and I laughed at the thought
that I could love you
but darling, love laughed last

isn’t it funny how I laughed at them all
they said that I’d fall in love
now when you’re not around me
I feel just like a clown
knowing they all laugh

I sipped the air because my glass was empty
you seemed to do the same

beside the bar, a doe at night pretending
the busy road was an open lane

you turned and you smiled for a moment
and then the moment passed
and I laughed at the thought
that I could love you
but darling, love laughed last

isn’t it funny how I knew all the time
that you’d never be just mine
what I found out too late
was that your funny face
was gonna make me cry

so,
we spoke through the night
the room swirled with the wine
and your eyes never moved from mine

I hatched up a plan
but he took your hand

and without a word
just a wink
you passed through the door in a moment
another moment passed
I laughed at the thought
that I would love you
and darling, love laughed last

love laughs last
