"Get Your Stocking Stuffed!"

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to the people in my wonderful hometown of Muscle Shoals, Alabama. My name is Stephen Melton. I am the longest surviving recording engineer and mixer in the Shoals. I've been in the studio more hours than anybody in town. That's absolutely true Rick.

I now live just outside of Washington D.C. and work for the State Department.
I never thought I would be living and working in the D.C. area.
I like to take a minute to say I know where you can get one of the best recordings I have had the privilege to work on in my 40 years in any studio!

Earlier in the year, Jimmy Johnson called me. Jimmy is one of the famous Muscle Shoals Sound Studio Rhythm Section members and also a great producer. Jimmy asked me if I would come home, engineer and mix a great new artist that found him and asked Jimmy to produce his CD. Jimmy also asked me if I could find him a studio where we could record the drums and a couple of instruments on tape, and record the rest of the instruments digitally on Pro Tools. I knew just where to go.

Having worked at Abbey Road Studios in London I knew of only on place in the U.S. that could give us the sound we wanted and had all the gear we could possibly ever want or need. Jimmy sent me the rough demos and the songs and artist literally blew me away. I mean blew me away!

I took Jimmy and Jason Bertrand to Black Bird Studios in Nashville. The studio belongs to John McBride. That's right ladies and gentlemen, Martina's husband and one of the nicest people on earth. John was Garth Brooks’ mixer on the road and co-owned Claire Brothers, a very famous live sound company.

Jimmy hired some of the best musicians and engineers in the country to play on Jason's record. He wanted me to get a very big drum sound like we had nailed in Vancouver when we co-produced the band King Karma together. It just so happens that the console I found was a 96 channel API. The largest of it's kind in the world. Yes ladies and gentlemen, we had the engineers, equipment, producer, players and songs together.

Obviously, one of the secrets to this project is Jason's writing. This is the first project that I have worked on in forty years that I loved, or liked all of the songs on the CD. Did you hear me? Let me repeat that. Jason Bertrand's CD is the first CD in decades that I have loved or liked every song on the CD. You can't even begin to imagine how many great songs I worked on or heard in my career. The songs have fire, passion, humor, and soul, and I'm just getting started!.

Ladies and Gentlemen, if you want a great record, with great songs, a great artist, awesome players and sounds great too! This is it. It will be in your collection for the rest of your life.

"Jason & The Haymakers are the Real Deal!"

If you were to look up Country Music in the dictionary it would say "see Jason and the Haymakers". Jason and the boys deliver a high energy authentic performance seldom seen anymore. They work tirelessly and never compromise on quality. They are our most requested band bar none. I am proud to call them friends of X-Country.

Bio

Over the past few years, Jason Bertrand has taken the road less traveled. He has have forged his way into the national Country Music scene the old fashioned way....by loading up a bus, hitting the road and playing to thousands of fans. In an industry dominated by popular media, Jason has intentionally flown under the radar and built his business with hard work, dedication and without compromise.

In early 2011, legendary producer and Swamper, Jimmy Johnson took Jason into Blackbird Studios in Nashville to begin recording his debut album. Some of Nashville’s and Alabama’s finest musicians, engineers and music insiders lent a hand in the making of the album. On July 4th, 2011, “True, Original, American Country” was released and the first single, “She Rides Horses” was sent out to Country radio. Iheartradio.com had “She Rides Horses” as high as #11 un the country for unsigned artists while reverbnation.com often ranks JHM as #1 in the Chicagoland market.

With true life songs, rooted in the experiences of over 200 nights a year out on the road, each song is relatable. Throw in Jason's backing band, The Haymakers and the hardest working road crew on the planet, Jason is a reality check for those unsuspecting fans who thought they were out for just another night. The drums thunder, guitars twang and fans sing along as if the band and crowd were all one. Emotion, sweat and music, all working together in perfect harmony.

Jason’s travels have taken him across the country and back, playing festivals and sharing stages with the likes of Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Montgomery Gentry, Eric Church, Little Big Town, Clint Black, Josh Thompson and even Rock superstar....Kid Rock, just to name a few. From Las Vegas to Chicago to Nashville and everywhere in between, each stop earning more fans and introducing the masses to what “True, Original, American Country” is all about. Word of mouth is still a powerful thing....and it’s not bought with money.

So while you are reading this bio, there is a good chance that Jason is rolling down another highway, making his way to your town. Come join in a celebration of music and life. Raise an ice cold PBR, toast your friends, sing your heart out and be a part of what good, honest, original music should be.

As always, thank you for supporting original, independent music.
