"Jaspar Lepak: Forgiving Wind"

"...give this album a chance, and you’ll find more than enough beauty and original charm to make you a fan." - Rolling Stone SA

"Artist: Jaspar Lepak"

"Delicate folk songstress Jaspar Lepak has the kind of Americana, lullaby ghost of a voice that listeners search for in roots music." - A.V. Club

"Tom May, producer of "River City Folk""

"Jaspar Lepak's crystalline voice and lyrical phrasing is a wonder, a beacon of true musicality. Listening to her evocative songs sung with that gorgeous voice, I am reminded of how I felt as a young man, the first time I heard Joni Mitchell. Jaspar Lepak is a special talent whose presentation transcends age, styles and fads. Listen, and you will be rewarded." -

"CD Review: 'Forgiving Wind' has a brisk, fresh sound"

“Lepak’s voice has that earnest Emmylou Harris tinge, giving her songs a heartfelt and emotional quality that penetrates deeply.” - Duluth News Tribune

"Forgiving Wind Album Review"

"She’s a compelling and sometimes even riveting singer, pure and pretty without being precious, emotionally raw without being raunchy, with a clean, clear voice that drifts between folk, country and that middle ground that has been identified, by those who decide these things, as Americana..." - Audio Video Magazine

"Jaspar Lepak in Performance"

"There is a lightness to her being and performance style that is weighted, straightforward and down to earth. Her core shines without compromise or submission, her words reveal insight, lyricism, humour and compassion. The real deal. It gets no better than this." - Artslink.co.za

"A New Country"

"It's one of those voices that can move all over the place, get big and small, wild and shy, sincere and acerbic, without ever losing its clarity and precision. She also has the remarkable gift of combining a very pure and high controlled singing voice with one that is deeply emotive in both a musical and narrative sense. For Jaspar is always telling a story – that is one of her other great gifts." - Sunday Tribune SA

"The NBT Review 129"

"Jaspar’s musical arrangements and compositions are hauntingly beautiful and mesmerizingly melodic, never overstated, always stripped to an essence and diligently refined." - NBT

Songs for Charlie (2004)

Jaspar Lepak (pronounced JAS-per LEE-pack) is a folk/Americana songstress whose remarkable gift for melody is only surpassed by her poetry. A child of the Sonoran Desert, her songs are deeply influenced by the many places she has called home: Tucson, Minneapolis, Durban, and currently Seattle. Sweeping across landscapes with an emotional depth that is extraordinary, her lyrics expose a brave vulnerability while her clear, pure voice touches the heart. Lepak started writing songs in 2002 while living in Minneapolis. Between 2004 and 2009, she recorded five albums, and in the fall of 2009, she moved to Durban, South Africa with her husband Kale. Her music found an enthusiastic audience, and in 2011, she recorded “Forgiving Wind” which Rolling Stone South Africa hailed as an album full of "beauty and original charm.” Lepak became a Seattle resident in 2012 and released her 8th CD “Close to Me” in September of 2017. "Close to Me" is a solo project recorded over a weekend in April—just two weeks before her daughter was born!
