Geneva reader Susan Miller turned me on to Bull Valley (near McHenry) musician Jud Brown. You can listen to some of Jud's work at www.myspace.com/judsonbrown. He's a classic singer songwriter that isn't afraid to rock. I'm not aware of any local gigs or CDs yet, but do yourself a favor and visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hH6mc6OJJZk. Jasper Cunningham started out as an acoustic vocal duo composed of Judson Brown and Cristen Ritter. Realizing that the music was too good to be confined to the coffee house, they decided to form a band dedicated to their original material. Studio musician Graham Butler was recruited to play drums and bassist Jeremy "Sauce" Montoto was added to complete the lineup. Jasper Cunningham has since evolved into an inventive rock band, which retains the tight vocal harmonies and singer/songwriter sensibilities of their acoustic roots.
