Bio
Jasper Rakers are a band recently born in a self-imposed exile from the Brooklyn Indie scene in spring 2010. The band moved from Williamsburg to a secluded cabin in the Catskill Mountains to live, write and record. They have no running water and share a hillside with a pack of coyotes. Jasper Rakers are a three-piece group that include Loren and Hugh of the highly regarded noise-gaze band Black Swan Green and Kolby Wade from the New York band Ladycop. Jasper Rakers take on a new direction with sound in utilizing sampled beats and field recordings layered over a foundation of live instruments and dark vocals. The songs are haunting, beautiful and filled with deep hooks that bring to mind moodiness of early 4AD, the lyricism of Scott Walker and the fragile urgency of Arcade Fire. The new EP combines a menacing and faded landscape of 1970's California with the emotional depth of eastern mountain forests.
Jasper Rakers will be releasing their debut EP, mixed by Jim Keller, in late October followed by a limited edition 7'' single hand numbered and designed by the band in November 2010.
