""How Tall Are Midgets? Femcee Jass Bianchi Performs at Club Lush""

Jass Bianchi was born in Danbury, Connecticut in 1984, grew up in Newtown, and then moved to Yonkers, New York in 2003. She began writing at the age of 11, and the poet turned “femcee” (female emcee), is currently residing in East Boston, Massachusetts, where she is working on her debut album, H.E.R. Bianchi will be performing in the city she was born in as the headliner for Club LUSH’s “Girl’s Night Out” event on Friday, November 16.

The 28-year-old, who holds a degree in communications from Riverdale, New York’s College of Mount Saint Vincent, is a strong advocate for education.

“I can’t stress enough about how important education is,” Bianchi said in a phone interview. “It furthers you, education is power.” Bianchi’s knowledge of the hip hop industry comes directly from her experience of working for Manhattan’s Koch Records in 2004, a label that has since been renamed E1 Music and represents a myriad of artists from various genres.

Behind-the-scenes false representation is what Bianchi seeks to reverse as an artist. Bianchi’s lifestyle events company, Tall Midget, strives to produce original sound and efficient marketing of their artists and collaborators. The company, founded by Bianchi and graffiti artist Map One, is set to release its latest set of music videos and is currently booking shows while working with a group of young entrepreneurs as they launch a new clothing line.“The aim is to be effective,” Bianchi explained.

Bianchi spoke about life in the studio and her current project, H.E.R, a counter to Common’s classic hip hop track “I Used to Love H.E.R.” from his 1994 Resurrection album.

Bianchi’s musical influences range from rock to jazz. She explained how being raised on motown, 90s hip hop, and R&B shaped her own sound, what she describes as ‘musical poetry’. Bianchi believes the current state of her music is directly influenced by the artists and musicians that surround her. Her previous mix tapes, Poetic Authority, produced in 2011, and 2010's Jassanova, cover the darker aspects of human nature – the tracks “Some Days” and “It’s Complicated” narrate the story of domestic violence from both male and female perspectives. Bianchi’s themes also span through hopes and dreams in tracks “From Me to You” and “Hello”.

“Music is all about your view and perspective,” Bianchi said, and went on to say that her worldview has been shaped and driven by the many facets of human life and experience. “You can’t deny what is in front of you.”

During the interview, Bianchi spoke about life in the studio and her current project, H.E.R, a counter to Common’s classic hip hop track “I Used to Love H.E.R.” from his 1994 Resurrection album. H.E.R will feature violinist and singer Nicole Alexandra and Harlem hip hop artist DROYD on tracks produced by SINIMA, Aleppo, and CHEMIST, to name only a few producers. A 2013 release is anticipated.

“This album will showcase the dexterity, beauty, and point of view of women both universally and within the realm of the hip hop industry,” Bianchi said. Themes on H.E.R. will include feminism, artistic growth, and how, in her own experience, love is both the base of creative energy and her perseverance as an artist. - MERCURIAL MAGAZINE- Alles Jayne

""She Is Easily the Illest Female Emcee I Have Ever Heard.""

Alright all you Soul Fans and Funkateers out there, it's about that time again, when me and The Nephrok! Allstars set some butts on fire on a Saturday Night! Atwood's Tavern (my favorite Cambridge Venue by FAR) is hosting us once again, BUT!! This time I got somethin' real special for ya. We have an amazing artist residing amongst us in Boston now. Her name is JASS BIANCHI and she is easily the illest female emcee I have ever heard. She will be opening for The Nephrok! Allstars with her band HOLi MOLi and I couldn't be more excited! She may be new on the regular Boston scene, but she's is not "new" by any means. Jass has been rippin mics and killin' shows for a long time time now all over New York, CT, and beyond. She just moved here so let's give her a warm welcome to Boston's thrivin' music culture/scene. You already know how hard The Nephrok! Allstars bring it, and this show will be no different. Joining me Nephrok! & Kit Holliday on Vocals is Peter MacLean on Drums, Steve Cuoco on Bass, Van Martin on Guitar, Yusaku Yoshimura on Keys, Eric Schindler & Ben Smeltzer on Horns and a handful of superstar special guests.

"Concert to Aid Newtown Ambulance"

DANBURY -- A Music and Arts Benefit Concert is planned for Friday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Cafe Eclipse, 40 Elm St.

Sandy Hook Elementary School alumna Caitlin Martin, 28, whose stage name is Jass Bianchi, organized the benefit to raise money for the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

The corps plans to build a new ambulance garage on the Fairfield Hills campus in Newtown.

Martin, who now lives in Boston, grew up in Newtown, and her fellow musicians participating are either from the town or have local ties.

Bands set to perform include Jass Bianchi & HOLi MOLi, Jon Willis, OTIS, Two Fisted Law, Shepherd's Pie, DJ Mo Niklz, Waking Elliot, Sketch Tha Cataclysm, Emjae, Tony Cankles, Deuce Bug, Political Animals and Brick Records recording artist Blacastan.

Newtown resident Joe Proc will perform his tribute song "Angels Ascend," which was recently broadcast on CNN. Music coordinator for the night is Pam Janutolo of Asbestos Records.

Martin explained how the benefit came about.

"My mother (Kathleen Martin) was on the board (of the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps), and when I spoke to the assistant chief, she told me about building the garage.

"There are a lot of friends who established fundraisers for various causes, but none were for building the garage," she said.

In addition to music, the event will showcase visual art. Michael Angel Perez, of Tall MIDGET, is heading this project, which consists of 26 pieces constructed by 26 artists in honor of the victims who lost their lives in Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The artwork will be displayed and auctioned off during the course of the night.

All ages are welcome. To get a ticket in advance for a $15 minimum donation, visit ourtownconcert.com. For more information and tickets, visit www.ourtownconcert.com. - THE NEWS TIMES

""Never Would You Imagine a Cute Lil White Girl Making a Name for Herlsef on the same streets as The Queen of Hip Hop Herself.""

Lets just get right into it. When you think of rappers from Yonkers you think of Jadakiss, Styles P, DMX possibly Tyler the creator and a few other cat’s. Never would you imagine a cute lil white girl making a name for herself on the same streets as The Queen of Hip Hop herself…No not Queen Latifah, the other Queen… Mary J Blige. But Jass Bianchi AKA Tall Midget does’t need to drop names to shine. Her music speaks for itself. Real Hip Hop heads could care less who you know or what color your skin is as long as you do one thing and that is make good music. Bianchi is doing just that. Even though her Reverb Nation page is lacking and the single she’s currently pushing is not my fav :( the other tracks like “Do You” “Hello” and “Some Days” make up for it. Don’t get me wrong her current single “Girls Night Out” is cool but after hearing “I avoid rappin – I stay poetic so – gimmie credit like I got no debit” made the decision easy for me. The next track “Hello” is quickly becoming my favorite as we speak. “I gotta make sure that my futures bright even if it means that I work all night” is on point and works with the smooth production. Finally we get a taste of a strange love story that will have you wanting to see a video to put the story together but a true MC can take you there without a video.

Check her out…Let us know what you think. - SWURVRADIO
