Bio

Driving with the soul of his Texas roots and the energy of the big city, Nashville singer-songwriter, Jay Denton, is developing a sound that is ready to emerge in mainstream pop/rock. Jay grew up in Dallas, with a life also strongly influenced by his years at USC in Los Angels and his travels through six continents. Denton has now been in Nashville for 2 years writing, recording, and developing his sound. After getting his professional music career started in 2010 with country/rock duo, Jesi & Jay, months of touring, and national radio play with their single “First Taste of Summer”, the duo parted ways in the winter of 2011 and Denton began pursuing his solo career. Jay spent 2012 working with producers Mike Lais and Jesse Michael Howard, digitally releasing one song per month both to hone his signature sound and grow a digital fan base. In August of 2012, he traveled to South Sudan and wrote an EP—The Nimule Project—while there, for a group of war orphans and former child soldiers. Following that release in October, Denton’s digital fan base saw sizeable growth from youth and young adults in the developing world, and has furthered his goal of writing music that spreads hope and adventure to youth overseas.

Denton’s music has received multiple song placements on ABC’s Extreme Home Makeover, ABC's Ready For Love, featured articles in the Dallas Morning News, and he has played at venues such as the California State Fair, Temecula Film & Music Festival, Whiskey A Go-Go, Poor David’s Pub in Dallas, The Bluebird Café, 12th& Porter, and Hotel Indigo West End, as well as countless others.
Having recently released his record, Building Up, in June of 2013, Jay is already working with Jesse Michael Howard on a new EP set for release late this fall.
