JAY DOUGLAS'S BIO
"A dynamic singer with a captivating stage presence, Jay has performed his wide ranging repertoire of music for audiences around the world, including parts of Europe & Asia. A featured performer at numerous night clubs, resorts, Caribbean and Mediterranian cruse ships, and major hotel chains in Canada and the USA, Jay has also performed at Toronto's Roy Thompson Hall and headlined at the Canadian National Exhibition.

Jay's recordings have been released worldwide and include numerous hits singles in Canada. He has appeared on network television in Canada and the U.S. drawing rave reviews on shows like, "It's Happening" and "Music at Midnight." He also acted in several motion pictures, including a role in “Heaven Before I Die”, starring Omar Sharif.

Jay'shas a wide ranging repertoire of music that he performs from, including R&B, Soul, Reggae Top 40, and Motown, contemporary, big band classics, and Caribbean favorites. His 2008 CD release, "A Touch of Magic," which include performances from international reggae stars, SLY & ROBBIE, remains a hit with Canadian and U.S. listeners. Jay was also instrumental in creating and performing on the CD "From Jamaica to Toronto" under the Light In The Attic Label, Seattle, Washington..Jay has been nominated for a JUNO Award 2011, singing the tune "Celebrate my Love" on the Dubmatix CD "System Shakedown."

A talented songwriter, having penned tunes for many artists over the years, Jay has shared the stage with a Who's Who of major stars, including R&B legends, Fats Dominoe, Joe Tex, Percy Sledge, Freda Payne, Dorothy Moore, Cissy Houston, bluesman Roscoe Gordon, soul stylists, The Manhattans, Peaches & Herb, reggae legends, Toots and the Maytals, Sly & Robbie, reggae jazz guitarist Ernest Ranglin, calypso king "The Mighty Sparrow", and good friend comedian/actor Jim Carrey.

Jay has appeared at various music festivals in Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary and Vancouver, including the Toronto Blues Society's Caribbean Soul concert. In December 2010, Jay and his band performed at the Havanna Jazz festival, Cuba..
