"New Mexico’s next top comic: Jay McKittrick"

Posted: Monday, January 23, 2012 10:00 pm

He’s everybody’s friend and neighbor, and he’s rapidly ascending as one of New Mexico’s up-and-coming comics. Known locally for his many benefit concerts, Jay McKittrick is best known for his slightly more sophisticated southwest brand of stand-up comedy.

The consummate entertainer, Jay performs humor that applauded by audiences of all ages and diversities. Working clean, he refrains from using extreme language on stage. Hitting on the hilarity of the human condition, Jay makes fun of everyday life in a way that is fun and relatable. Often satirical and sometimes surreal, Jay’s jokes fade in and out of fiction like the far side.

I’m not trying to be shocking,” says the 46-year-old family man “I’m trying to be entertaining.”

Born and raised in California, McKittrick is a graduate of distinction from Sonoma State University’s School of Business and Administration. A resident to Ruidoso for more than 13 years, Jay worked as an aerospace inspector before moving to New Mexico. Delivering pizzas at night, McKittrick began writing jokes to tell his fellow employees, and soon he found his calling.

McKittrick got his start in August of 2008, and has been developing his act ever since. His first CD is expected to hit the shelves by March, and he is currently booking his 2012 tour. - Ruidoso Free Press

We attended Jay's "Larger Than Wife" show on Friday night at the Community Youth Warehouse and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. He puts on a terrific show and I am amazed that anyone can appear on stage (without notes) and tell jokes for over an hour. YOU ROCK JAY! When and where is the next show?
